did anyone see it last night? I thought It was great, and it was a real bring back memories kind of music programme, especially if you were a teenager in the 80's.
The only let down for me was Paul Young, everyone sang live except him. I hate singers miming and it was a shame, all the 80's singers the ITV could have brought on and they let the show down with someone miming.
Tony Hadley struggled with his new version of True but at least he sang it live and all respect to him.
Im not sure if this was a one off or if its a different year every week but i hope so!! Hopefully it will be 1984 next week if its a long running show but if not, it was a great look back any way.

I was gonna watch but when I saw it was fronted by Denise Van Outen, (9 in 1983), someone who was probably too young for My Little Pony and Terrahawks. Like seeing Miss World hosted by Vanesa Feltz. I thought it was gonna be a load of old nonsense. So gave it a miss. Was it a true reflection of 1983? As these types of programs miss so much out if they can't get the material, artists, and other stuff that was also a main part of the year in question.
A bit like SKY when they do their 'All Time Top 100 Movies'. Which should be 'Sky's All Time Top 100 Movies that they are allowed to Screen that specific Month'. Because you have a pre-determined list to pick your movies from rather than being left to pick from any of the movies that has ever been.
Sorry. I'm in a ranting mood today.

the original is about 3 octaves higher than that but mind you it was nearly 25 years ago he first sung it so bless him for trying

It was sung live, but why did he have to croon it? (As in a crooner)
Also:
Why did Paul Young not sing live (as said by silkyuk9) - he just mimed to the original?
Why did we have adverts that were just for itv programmes, not products being advertised.
I think I am now getting old as these things are annoying me. Do I need to buy myself a cardigan?

yeah would be cool if did another programme for another 80's year, massive 80's fan. Yeah was a bit dissapointed with Hadley fan of spandua ballet and heard them at live events on dvd and he can really sing, but didnt like his version of true. Maybe as spandua ballet dont get on anymore he wanted to do his own unique version of the song. Thought culture club or boy george
may have been on 83 was a big year for them and duran duran. Thought the singer of Heaven 17 looked quite well and could still hold a note

Shame I missed it last night. 82 was my favourite year in that decade but still would have enjoyed last nights viewing. We were(or should I say she were)watching shite celebrity jungle nonsense. Dint check to see what were on other channels. X factor tonight, cant wait (NOT)

Ive put my foot down on that jungle shite Deano, only reality we watch is X-Factor.
My misses has stopped me drinking every night, ive put on a few pounds so i'm out running now every other night, doing a steady 3 miles up to now. The other year i was running 7 miles every other day.
Shite weather here, my son cant even get home, the roads are blocked.

Just watched repeat on itv2+1!
Agree Paul young was terrible, At least all others had decency to sing live you don`t expect their voices be same after all these years and Paul Young`s mime stuck out like a sore thumb!

according to itv's website spiel it was a one off financed by "Now thats what i call music" to celebrate 25 years of the brand, also to help flagging sales of the brand.

Have to disagree with you there Tom.Spandau Ballet were one of my fave groups in the 80s.Not many singers in the same era with a voice as unique and powerful as Tony Hadley's.Tony was talentless in 83 and evenm worse in 08!

Any chance of a hint, I've checked every place I know for that and simply can't find it...
Would love to have a squint at some of my old favourites again in better than Youtube quality
Thanks Paul...
