Hi folks im new to this forum,im dave 23 from the west midlands.i enjoy playing machines but i also enjoy "tinkering with them aswell,i no abit-enough about the machines ect" i was always that child that had to take things apart to see how they worked ! lol
Anyway enough about me i need to pick your brains! i have 2 problems on 2 diffrent machines (both note acceptor related)
The first 1 is a 2006 global "money magic" which has a lumina note acceptor fitted and today when i turned it on it reset the memery (not sure why) and now it doesnt pick up thats its got a note acceptor fitted,i have entered the bnv code which is the 6 didget number on the slicker on top of the notey but its saying its not recognised,i have tryed it over and over but with no luck and the manual isnt much help!!! any advise please would be great!!
The second problem is (sorry if any of you guys have nodded off at this point) i have a 2006 barcrest "doctors n nurses" which i have bought a note acceptor kit for (jcm),fitted it and in the manual it says you need to enter the bnv code which in the manual says its the last 6 digits of the number on the top sticker, but after entering the number in "engineers mode" it cheaks it says that its valid but it doesnt work and light up properly. i no the hopper has to be full ect but the hopper hasnt changed from a limit of £125 to £250 so i cant be doing something right somewhere!!
Any help would be most appreciated guys as i have been searching through the manuals for ages and have just about given up!
Many thanks dave

Your Money Magic machine sounds like the backup battery voltage is low- may need to change the battery on the main cpu board.
I'm guessing you have had the note acceptor working on Money Magic before, if not then you do need to configure the dil switches on the main cpu board for a Lumina acceptor.
Have you tried entering the BNV key as 123456 (default key) on both your machines?
Also make sure both machines think they are full by pressing the hopper top up.
Remember when you get that memory reset alarm it will clear the hopper levels too.
With the Doctors and Nurses machine there is usually a dil switch on the main MPU5 or program card which needs to be 'on' for the note acceptor to work. Like you mention you can tell if the machine thinks it has a note acceptor as the float level when full will probably be a lot more than the usual £125.

Money magic: the bnv code needs to be reset on the acceptor itself (it gets changed at boot time by the machine as a security measure)
Look for the dill switches on the acceptor and set switch 6 to the on position, power up machine for a minute then turn switch 6 off,
Enter the test routine and re-enter the code on the sticker, it should now report ok, reboot machine and the note test will now be available in test.
Oh and you should change the battery as well.
As for the JCM, are you sure it’s a cctalk one?

Hi sorry to resurrect a very old post but I can see it was left open ended, did you manage to get the note acceptor to work with your doctors and nurses machine?
I’m currently having issues adding an NV10 USB note acceptor to the same machine - you mentioned you had a manual for doctors n nurses, I could do with having a copy to see if there is anything specific which may help troubleshoot my issue as it only appears to be with this machine…could you provide a link or scan a copy of the manual for me (happy to cover costs of needed)?
Thanks,
Pete
My particular issue and what I’ve tried so far:
When I add the note acceptor, it receives power (makes noise when starting up), but when I try and enter the default BNV key ‘123456’ I receive the message ‘BNV NO RESPONSE’.
I already own a Barcrest MPU5 Space Raiders machine which has helped me compare and test things, I’ve managed to add the same note acceptor to my Space Raiders machine without any issues.
This is what I have tried so far:
:: Reset the BNV key on the actual note acceptor to default 123456.
:: Checked the note acceptor operator mode and it’s set to CCTALK.
:: Compared and traced all wiring from hoppers and note acceptor between both machines - everything matches.
:: Swapped coin hopper from the working machine just in case that made a difference - no change.
:: Note acceptor loom definitely works as tested with Space Raiders machine.
:: Switched DIP switches on one by one on both program card and main board, powering the machine off and on in between each test.
:: Tried 2 other NV10 USB note acceptors with the same result.
:: Changed to different interfaces and options on the note acceptor using configuration cards and a PC.
:: Connected an old Lumina Note Acceptor (on old notes) and that worked fine (same BNV key process).
:: Put the Space Raiders game card in to the Doctors ‘n’ Nurses machine and was able to add the NV10 USB note acceptor with no issues.
:: Because of the above, this made me think maybe there is an issue with the game card so purchased another doctors and nurses game card - made no difference. It is the same ROM version though son not sure if later versions would make a difference.

You are probably better off walking outside and shouting this in Welsh than expecting a reply here we have all left this place to rot and gone to the mecca or DIF - desertislandfruits.com/

Ha ha cheers for the heads up! I’ve already posted to Mecca but came across this post that seemed very similar to my issue.
