Hi everyone, I got this machine today and would just like to ask for a bit of advice. I have noticed that on the coin mech, this little red mechansim (the gear or someting like that) pushes in when a coin is put through and sometimes it pushes straight back to its original position, and sometimes it goes back a few seconds later instead, is this normal? Should I apply oil to it or something so it goes back correctly all the time? I just don't want those poxy alarms going off in my face every second if this could cause a problem.

Cheers.

That is the routing mechanism. 2 Electro magnets drive 3 flaps which sort the coins into the right holes depending on the coin type.

As long as it works, this shouldn't cause a problem. I don't even think that the mech can cause an alarm because of those.

The only way it'll cause an alarm is if coins don't fall through the router correctly, and begin stacking up either in the seperator, or on top of it... until they reach the sensors in the validator, at which point the machine assumes you are trying to defraud it.

If it's Barcrest, it'll probably start screaming BAD PATTERN alarm, perhaps STRIM ALARM, or perhaps something entirely different :p

As Guitar said, it's probably not going to cause an issue, but I'd avoid trying to set the world record for 'most coins inserted into a machine within 10 seconds' if there is a chance it'll lead to coins jamming.
