Hi Guys,

I have posted a few threads before about fruit machines but this one is a bit different. I have been running an arcade for about a year and a half now and was just wondering if anyone had any god ideas that i could implement in the new year.

I currently have about 18 machines and 3 pool table. Have yous any ideas that i could use to generate more custom.

Any help is much appreciated guys.

Anthony

Get some video games etc in, and some lo techs...The biddys love them. 3 player Golden Games/Party Times are a must ;)

This is a site for EMULATION purposes of older machines. Not playing strategies.
If you are more interested in playing modern machines,
visit Jackpottyforums

(DOND is around now on this site..... How long was this sig out of date...!)

Tell us some more information and I bet we can come up with some good advice for you.

Location?

Current average takings per week?

Machine mix (names)?

Machine stakes and prizes settings?

Customer mix (old/young)?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your interest. It is located in Armagh town centre (N. Ireland). There are 2 other arcades beside mine, one with one pool table and the other with none.

I have the following machine although i'm going to buy 5 or 6 new ones on friday to swap with the older ones.

Volcano £5 (getting rid of this)
Haunted House £8 (great earner)
Jackpoteers £5 (getting rid)
Money Monster £5 (good earner but may change)
Top Dog £5
Cash Explosion £5
Chase the Ace £5
Lifes a Beach £5
Sub Zero £5

Casino 5ive Liner £15 (This earns about £150 per week)
Monopoly £25
Big Blaster £25 (changing this one)

Gamebox 6 - This one has slowed way down
Megatouch Maxx

One poker machine

The 3 pool tables take about £220 per week

I was thinking of buying a toastie maker and microwave and serving some food.

Also, i was thinking to plugging my xbox into the tv and i have room for a couch in front of it.

What you think guys?

Trust me, if you start serving hot food, you will regret it! You'll have to start doing stock takes, for one, which is a right pain in the arse, plus the effort of having to actually make the food, serve it, collect up the rubbish, wash/hoover the carpets when people drop it all over them, which they will.

It really isn't worth the hassle!

Oh, and as far as the X-box is concerned, all that will do is attract youngsters who have nowhere else to go and no money to spend. I wouldn't bother!

Oh and if your like any of the arcades round here, you will have to have no notes whatsoever when a customer wants their pounds changed up ;)

There isn't one arcade with a pool table where I live but go back about 7 or 8 years and they did, I think they must've got damaged reguarly and just couldn't be assed with them anymore. I agree with getting the lo-techs in to attract the coffin dodgers and people who are too stupid to play a hi-tech.

I would personally get a couple of decent 'player' machines in. Would get regular visits from players yes, but % is % whoever wins the jackpot. You'll win in the long run as more credits played.

Do all 3 pool tables get played alot at the same time? Take up a fair bit of room.

I fail to believe that you don't have at least one multiplayer Cat D lo-tech machine.

Even something like an old Party Time / Golden Game would be adequate, and ideally one of each.

Do all three pool tables get played at the same time? We've got a 150 machine Licensed FEC and we've only got 2 pool tables, and aside from when it's busy (and I mean upwards of 100 people physically on the arcade floor) there is normally only one being played.

dont know if you are allowed £500 machines there but if you are GET THEM!!! Arcades make countless times more money from these than they do off low jackpot machines, the ones I'd recommend for cheap:

Rainbow Riches
Cashino
Elvis
Reel King Slotto
Monkey Business
Megaslot

If you shell out ofcourse a 777 barcrest cabinet is a must...

If you are talking non £500 machines, then I'd say whack in some £35 bar x machines, they take a fortune plus a party time multiplayer, if you want to spend more then a double decker party time on £35 jp.

£5jp machines only attract kids, but if that's the market you are going for I'd say most £5's are very similar to each other, they all attract the kids.

The B3's will make the license cost sky rocket firstly, then obviously you can't garuntee they will be played, as for illegal machines, i have a chinky with a £15 jackpot up the road from me, it's not the most policed thing ever, nobody really cares.

hey mate,

Im 17 now and get bored with the £5 JP machines so i sneak into the over 18's sec now and again. the problem is that i enjoy getting big payouts, and with the red gaming- invincible gone i dont tend to get many £25+ tops anymore.
But the 3 player machines like party time, vegas nights and golden game are fun for everyone (from people younger to me than the grannies)
so id say get one of thoses in there. my local lido has a 3p Big Ben (i think its by coinworld) but yeah, that always attracts people, im not sure why but theres always someone on it - even just the casual dads taking thier kids in to play the 2p pushers.
