As well as the need to get some low techs in there, why not get some cheap £35jp Hi-Techs? I'm always on ebay looking to see what prices they go for, and despite the scarcity of them, theres always an abundance of Cool Games/Games Media being sold by one seller. They are selling them for as low as £59 with delivery £65, so maybe get about 4 and try haggle for a discounted price.

Also, look at the players that come into your arcade on a regular basis and carefully segment them into defined groups. It seems you've significantly underrepresented the bingo/old biddy player, so if you dont have the funds for the newer Electrocoin's Bar-X Diamond 7 etc, then downgrade and go to their lower end of the product range and get some of their older machines i.e. Red Bar etc.

Make sure you move these away from your kiddy £5jp's. The old biddy players cant stand it when they have to mix you with the chavvy kids, so the further you keep them away the better.

Fifteen pound jackpots are not illegal yet, just the 8 pound ones.!!!!

Surely it is legal, but only on a full £35 (or whatever it is now) lisence. Its a maximum JP not the mandatory JP. Anything over £5 would fall in to the cat D category, or that is what I thought. Saying that, he is in Ireland which could make the world of difference, I really don't know.

Takeaways are only allowed 5 pound jp awp's or swp's.

As for the thread poster all i can say is we got rid of the pool tables in our smaller arcades as we find punters that like to gamble big money are put off by the rowdy behaviour that usualy happens around them.

As for the hot food, in england if you serve free food and drinks to you're customers you have to offer it to anyone who comes through the door reguardless of if they are playing machines or not or you fall foul of the enticement laws.

Imho i think getting rid of the pool tables for a couple of 25/35 jp's and a couple of B3's is the way to go.

Wish you all the best in whatever you do this year as its gona be a whole lot worse then the last one

Category D is maximum £5 MONETARY, £8 NON MONETARY, per game (per credit). Basically £5 cash or £8 value prizes (toys, and I believe tokens). However, as many will know, some Category D machines (like Golden Games) can easily pay out streaks upwards of £50, they just take a credit for each £5 that is paid out.

Category C is up to £35. I'd imagine that £8 all cash payout is still allowable, but that it would currently fall under Category C, which would mean paying the AMLD for it - and I doubt many owners would be willing to pay that (still about £750p/a) when they can have £5 without that charge.

Sorry, I had cat C and D the wrong way round. I thought Cat C was the £5 and D was £35.

Throw in a punch ball game by the front door on 50p or £1 play will all ways attract passers by that think they are he man in the last few weeks most the clubs in our town have added one and they all ways being played and best of all they don't payout so it's all profit will only take the room of a fruity or better still if room outside pop it just outside the door.

like stated above if you can get rid or maybe 1 or 2 of the pool tables 3 seems like to many and depending on what type of condition your thinking of keeping them in they can be costly to keep. ie(change of cloth any drink spills) they all so make a great seat for kids that want to hang around with no money. lol

forget the xbox idea that's a no no you want people spending money then leaving to get more and spend that, not sitting on a nice lovely couch playing on the xbox because mum won't let him and his 6mates in the house playing on it.

If you have plenty of room i'm not sure what licence if any but a pc or 2 wired up to the net could be a idea maybe charge per hour for use punters could then play online poker, blackjack, or just visit facebook.

Oh and get a andy capp cos if i'm ever in N.ireland and i happen to walk in your arcade and not find one i won't be to pleased every arcade should have a andy cap it should be the law :bigeyes04:

Sticker up an arcade full of bandits and you'll soon remember ;)

Apparently these shiny category stickers are quite collectible, either that or people just like winding us up :p

It's all profit apart from when they get vandalised by idiots... they also give out a bad impression depending on what kind of arcade you are intending to run. I tend to associate those machines with fairgrounds / travelling arcades, not proper arcades.

How about a grabber or two, or a skill-game? Something like a small Stacker game? Our grabbers take insane money, although their takings vary hugely depending on clientelle. If you are encouraging younger people (which I guess you are with the amount of £5 machines), try and think about what they'd like in a grabber.

This nightclub in Exeter has one inside the club. Was always being used.
