30/50p and £35jp is about as much as i can stand. as long as you know your limits then you will be fine. £1 a spin is just madness. yea theres potential to win a load of money, but the loss could be massive. at £1 a spin in theory it would take around £85, so 85 spins to get the jackpot (@ 78% if my maths is upto scratch).
85 spins @ 30p = £24. ive ploughed much more than £24 in a £35jp machine before. upto £50 in one sitting i recon :o not to mention what everyone else has put in.
my point is that there is potential for people to lose £100's in one sitting on these things, especially if they are trying to "force" it.
they should save this hardcore gambling for casinos, etc. pubs are for drinking + entertainment, not gambling.

edit: another point, i dont carry around many pound coins, and if i fancy a gamble ill only usually get out whats in my pockets and then use the note acceptor. this means that theres more temptation just to stick in another note and have a few spins ... but it never is just a few. i can see people ploughing loads through these :(

My favourite local - excellent food and well run - is apparently getting a new machine tomorrow, and even though I don't play at the moment, I hope it's not a £70.

It's currently got a £25 Mega Zone (hey, this is rural Lincolnshire, old machines are / were pretty commonplace up here), which I like, because dad plays and I think it offers a pretty good value for money game. The blocks are obvious but as long as you have a strategy you normally break even, some times it will do an IM, on 10p play it's often £47 or so.

I'm really hoping that when £70 machines come out, dad gives them up, or we get another machine at home. I'm very close to buying another one anyway but we need to get rid of stuff to make room.

Yes they are ready and waiting for the green light to be released. The paperwork is expected to be finalised by the easter holidays. Sadly there's not many new machines in the pipeline, just upgrades of the £35's that are about now.
