God bless AOL and there up to 8meg speed. Should get about 6.6 with my connection and local phone lines. (I think they're made of lead or wood or something.) Thank f**k I'm switching on Friday. Unfortuately I'm not in a cable area. Going with BTinternet. They can't be any worse that AOL.
Well I think BT have upgraded the wiring to copper.
Where you came from, is gone.
Where you thought you were going, was never there.
And where you're at right now, aint no good, unless you can get away from it.

Here's my connection.
I have a 8mb connection. But I was getting about 4mb upto 30 minutes ago. I was getting frequent disconnections so I bought a 10mtr patch lead (£9.99 B&Q), stuck the Netgear 834GTEX into the master socket, ripped out all the phones and stuck one on the master jack, and now I have the reading below without nasty disconnects.
My ADSL is from Karoo 8mb on a standard copper telephone wire.

Well not to bad to start with, he said it will speed up in a while. He typed into my browser so speed test site that virgin use to test there speed. I saw the password if anyone knows the address lol. its something like 103.28 blagh blagh, come up as a virgin speed test page. [IMG hmm tried paris and got a better result. he did say that speedtest.net is a bit missleading as there are so many people testing that you do not get a true speed result

If you ask me, the companies own test sites are misleading
my mate (on BT) uses speedtest & gets about 6mb yet he uses bts own & it says hges getting the full 16mb
i (on o2) use speedtest it says 15 - 20mb, but if i use BT then it says about 4mb & reccomends me to switch toBT,
bit fishy if you ask me
