Jake had us up at 4 this morning coughing and throwing up. All awake till 6 then all went to sleep again. After a while me and the mrs got up but jake carried on sleeping. Tried to wake him but he was dead to the world. Eventually woke him and made a double appointment at the doctors for us both. Poor little man was in and out of sleep and the doctor was not happy and sent us to hospital. We have been here all day now and done the same sets of tests twice now and waiting for a senior doctor to cast his/her views. There were talks of meningitis earlier which sacred us half to death but is more likely a viral infection. We have had nothing to eat but the nurses gave us a coffee and jake a biscuit earlier. Think they are going to keep him in for observations because he is not eating and more worryingly not drinking. Been writing this in sections all day whilst going for fags and ringing family.
Thought it was unbelievable just how quickly a childs health can deteriorate. Lets hope he can come home tonight and it be nothing bad. :-(

i went through this with our youngest in October when he was 15mths old...Viral infection which they gave us Amoxycillin for..he went of his food for days, so we were advised just to give him fluids until he felt better within himself..youre right though it scares the living shit out of ya....especially as they cant tell you were or why it hurts etc..
Cyberpunk:- alienated loner who lives on the edge of society in generally dystopic future where daily life is impacted by rapid technological change, an ubiquitous datasphere of computerized information, and invasive modification of the human body.....Hmmmmm

i kno the feeling
my lil 5 yr old nephew, he swears, he punches in the genitals, he kicks, he a little rebbel
i dislike him but the 1 day he fell off m sisters bunk bed i was shit scared =/
he fell off the bed & onto the corner of the drawers by the side
poor lil guy had cracked his head open
so i shout my dad while running into bathroom to get towel 2 wrap around his cut
got 2 hospital he had 2 have his head glued together =/
goes to show, kids can treat you like shite but you still love em

I was saying the same thing on MSN the other day to you I think Deano about my lad being so ill he was in hospital. The thing with me tho is I don't get to find out till I see him every second Saturday. Its like when he was rushed to hospital when he put his hand on the electric cooker ring and his hand stuck to it. I only found out when I next saw him with massive blisters on his hands. Made me feel sad. Hope he gets well soon Deano all the best me.

After a 12 hour observation in hospital we got home with the good news that Jake has a viral infection. A hugh relief for myself and family to say the least. Our lass not well now so I slept with Jake and had a very unsettled night. He must have been sick 20 times in the night, bless him.
These things take a lot out of young kids and he is just sat on the sofa looking very fed up with himself.
Thanks for the replies gents, they gave me support when I needed it. Cheers.

Reminds me of the time my little one was 6 , just kept crying and throwing up all the time , took her local walk in centre said it was just a bug .
Any way after a further two days and condition was including loss of balance decided wasn't right.
So off we went to local hospital waited for 3 hours to be seen and low and behold something was wrong.
What had happened was that the boxer we have had tore her bed to bits ( which was normal for her ) but the bed had little polystyrene beads in it and one had become lodged in her ear ( no idea how )
Any way they gave her local to put her out and removed it all fine after that , but didn't half scare us .
