Just been reading the thread on chavs helping (or trying too!) in arcades & it reminded me of an arcade from the 80s.
In Leeds city centre they had an arcade next to Big Lils(classy pub somebody may have heard of!) called the Penny Arcade. I went into it a couple of times & it was a bit worrying cos they were a lot of youths about (chavs of the 80s you could call them!) I stopped going in because they were a couple of big lads (I was only youngish at the time) standing over me talking to each over saying I should give them some of my £1.50 I had just won on Win-A-Gain. I thought no chance & I was out of there quicker than Linford Christie! I never went in there again after that.
I know it might not sound that scary but to someone who was about 13 on their own it was very scary to me!

There is another arcade with that name near the market but that's not the one I meant. Vegas was near to this one.

A big arcade in Rotherham was the scariest place for me.I were only about 10 and used to play the 2p machines there.I can remember a big posse of Sheffield lads coming in and fighting with the Rotherham lads inside the arcade. They left me alone cos i was only likkle.Scared the shit out of me at the time.
Can't remember the name but it is now a Mecca bingo on Corporation St.
