Was farting about the internet..as ye do and came across this handy little tweak for speeding up the loading of internet pages.
I thought och..whats the worst that can happen i kill my PC and need to format (again) but it does actually work believe it not..i noticed a heck of a difference speed wise.
It goes like this.
When you connect to a web site your computer sends information back and forth. Some of this information deals with resolving the site name to an IP address, the stuff that TCP/IP really deals with, not words. This is DNS information and is used so that you will not need to ask for the site location each and every time you visit the site. Although Windows XP and Windows XP have a pretty efficient DNS cache, you can increase its overall performance by increasing its size.
You can do this with the registry entries below:
Copy and paste from here :
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesDnscacheParameters]
"CacheHashTableBucketSize"=dword:00000001
"CacheHashTableSize"=dword:00000180
"MaxCacheEntryTtlLimit"=dword:0000fa00
"MaxSOACacheEntryTtlLimit"=dword:0000012d
Make a new text file and rename it to dnscache.reg. Then copy and paste the above into it and save it. Merge it into the registry.
Like i say it worked well on my PC and if you decide to try it **YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK**
I believe it only works on XP.

I can confirm that this also works for Windows 7 Beta, Many Thanks mate. its easy just do as he says and save it onto desktop, double click it and it will ask you if you want to install it in your registery and then click yes. ( I recommend having all I.E etc windows closed)

Glad it has had the desired effect for some people..others mabye not so much.
Im always on the lookout for these types of tweaks/programs that allegedly make your pc run 10 times faster.
This is the 1st one ive seen that really does the job.

I think it would be handy to have a sticky for these type of "tweaks" and people could let us know which version of windows it works on.

Does this not just simply store full web pages in the cache so when you revisit a site, you already have 95% of the page in your cache, the browser then simply 'updates' whats new/changed. Of course, faster than loading the full page from scratch everytime but what if you browse naughty sites lol?

I believe its the Temporary Internet Files Cache that deals with that side of things.
However with me not having a clue what you on about..what these 'naughty sites' are i have no idea.

Why wouldn't you want the naughty sites loaded quicker as well, lol?
