You don't reason with anyone by the looks of things. You make a statement and whoever disagrees with it, they MUST be wrong.

No not at all....It's 1 persons point of view just not your point of view. Round in circles as Ady said is correct....We will just all have to agree to disagree.

Also on a side note....Shown a tiny tiny bit of respect to Geddy who's released more layouts than you have had hot dinners (not as many as "he who must not be named" though :D)

Respect to the old farts :)

Snip some txt sp3ak waffle...

So I will end as I started...

Geddy off yur high horse...

and lets give Peter & Co ('Union Jackpots') all the support they need.....

All the support they need???? Are you joking? Right for the slow ones at the back and this must include you....

Union Jackpots is advertising/spamming here in the hope of luring as many people as possible onto a gambling site so they can make money.

This site, Fruit-Emu is an 'emulation' site not a gambling site and the majority of people here are a mix of impressionable kids and ex-addicts, hence a company spamming it's wares here is immoral. If UJ wants to advertise why don't they do it on some gambling boards??? Why just here?

As for high horses when your family is decimated by gambling addiction or one of your loved ones is affected by it then I think you might, just might have the audacity to complain about me regarding this whole situation as totally disgusting.

Yes, through shameless promotion of his site in the hope people become weak enough to move up from free play to real play. His strategy is positioned very well, making out it's for the love of fruit machines, and that you can play for free all the time. But the truth is that there's hundreds of people that will be lured to the site, possibly the recovering gamblers that aren't strong enough to keep to free play.

So you think a company advertising gambling on a board full of impressionable kids and ex-gambling addicts is a good idea?

(Bearing in mind they are not advertising on other FME sites for some 'strange' reason)

No other FME sites have 'puchasable' advertising space do they?

Obviously on other forums, who don't offer advertising space for rental, any threads like these would be classed as spam, and presumably removed or edited. I see that's happened on other forums mentioned ( Union jackpots spam thread | FreebieList.com Free Stuff Community Message Boards ) ... seems like a weird place to spam?

Shit I'm sure Rogue would take his hands off if he wanted such banners.

So you are saying just because they have a banner they are allowed to spam the threads? :bigeyes09:

Don't know what that means, sorry.

I was just stating that it's weird they don't spam other FME sites, yet spam unrelated sites.

In all honestly pumping this thread up is only generating more interest in Union Jackpots anyway. No publicity is bad publicity.

Whatever my feelings on the topic, I said my piece, in one post, and people can take what they want from it. I don't feel like ramming the point home - as I said, bumping this thread is only seeking to generate interest, and doing so in such a manner (that is, your attitude) is also not going to make others respect your opinion.

Well my new on line shop was going great till I tried advertising on Weight Watchers with my Banners, even Slimfast said a big NO! :bigeyes24:

We even had famous patrons like Sarah Ferguson, Kate Moss and Karen Carpenter. Shame.

Because nobody from Cyberslotz created a thread here trying to force their games upon us.

However this thread was not forced upon by anyone at Union Jackpots, but a forum member.

I'm sure there were threads about Cyberslots?

The threads about "I've just won £500 on Rainbow Riches, aint I great!" are more dangerous!

I actually agree with you there.

I've given up looking at videos on Youtube for the moment because during my recent 'lapse' I was actually thinking about those videos while throwing money away.

Fact is, not as many are willing to admit their losses as are happy to run around shouting 'get the f*** in there' when they win a jackpot.

It boils down to the individual, and people have a right to post whatever wins they have, but it does give a wildly unrealistic view of machine playing - and so I (and others who can admit to having a problem, and are wanting to quit) would do well to avoid such content.

Are the owners of Rainbow Riches posting in the threads?

Well there you go you have just basically admitted having gambling adverts and spam here are not a good idea.

No, not at all.

If I felt that way, I'd not be on this website, although obviously that's the next step if I can't control my gambling, I'll have no option but to replace it with another 'pastime'.

I find videos of people winning £500 over and over again in real life arcades in the UK more damaging than someone offering an online gaming outlet. I find them damaging because they never show the 'background'. They purely show the event. For all I know, they've won '£500' today but lost £1500 yesterday - but that part is almost always not mentioned - nobody likes a 'loser', so why bother mentioning it and being subject to video responses mocking you?

What upset me with Union Jackpots was the way in which the failed launch was handled, and the apparent attitude towards the userbase, not the fact that they offer online gambling. I've not gambled online since the New Year, and if I did gamble online (which I've no intention of doing), I'd be happier playing casino type slots on 1p per winline bets.

Geddy, I take your point and I apologise, but I will go much further in saying that I to have been a gambler (and addicted at one point), I have friends and family who have been down that sad sorry road of addiction to gambling etc so I know exactly what it's like, but thru my own will power managed to give up and provide support for them where and when possible..., I now play purely for fun and nothing more...

As for UJ spamming it's wares on FE where impressionable kids will get hooked on or sucked in to the evils of gambling.... well I think it is too late for that, most of the arcades where I live are full of kids day and daily, to deal with this problem it is down to the arcade owners and the kids parents, or the law to change.

But you will need to go back to the start of this thread and realise that Kriss started it off by saying 'Only two days to go' a completely and totally innocent statement, but little did he know and in fact all the postee's including Peter realise that it would end up with a rather heated exchange of words over whether or whether not UJ should have been advertising it's site or (to use your words) 'spamming' to drum up interest, also a number of people thought that the UJ site was a con, then Peter came along and kindly explained the situation (which he did in great detail), but my point to you is this... if you feel so strongly about the matter then why didn't you ask the Fruit-Emu site owner(s) to remove the add..

Duplo who setup this site many years ago of which I have been a member for quite some time I may add, if he felt in the same way as you then he would not have allowed UJ to advertise full stop....

I could go on but to be honest why bother...... but just to say, read Duplo's post on page 5 of the thread and understand his points.... as it says it all....

However the people making money from the machines in those videos are not advertising them here or making comments about them in threads here are they? That is the whole point.

Geddy, I take your point and I apologise

No need ;)

That is good to hear you have pulled through but others might not have that strength and get lured in to this site and fall foul.

Maybe so but that does not mean we have to make it worse :D

... if you feel so strongly about the matter then why didn't you ask the Fruit-Emu site owner(s) to remove the add..

Mainly because of this...

What I was not happy with was for people to question my motives in firstly arranging an advertising deal with UJ...

.... so not much point in asking duplu then is there?

Geddy...

It's a free world and if Duplo and those like him allow such sites to advertise their wares then there is very little you or I can do....

UJ are free to advertise on those sites which allow them and I would say that for all the legal processes which UJ have under taken in order to get this far will not allow them to advertise on child based sites, where as Fruit-Emu is open to all, so therefore within reason sites such as UJ can advertise...

I will say this and that is you will not find an advert for porn sites even the softest of porn on this site, yet if you check through some of the threads on this forum alone the words 'Porn' is mentioned many many times in some way shape or form, of which impressionable kids can and will get access to....so what is worse??

But either way, if you don't like the idea of UJ then you don't have to use it....
