I find it frankly quite stupid that alot of posts on this site revolve around or have revolved around:

a) download of reel king etc. £500 machines
B) download of newer emulator versions

OK people are worried about getting into trouble with manufacturer's etc. but is this really a valid problem, I'm sure they have better things to worry about than people getting hold of emulators of a random based machine - I mean you can play random based video machines on any number of casino websites, I think people are overlooking the fact the companies simply don't care. I mean what have the companies got to lose by people having these files - surely they will attract more play to the real machines - and as there is nothing to learn on a random machine no long term profitable method could be found to the machines....

Take that up with empire then! I think it's more to do with people being able to see how crap machines can be. Say you downloaded a dond, played it for about a week and then saw one in your local. You would of seen that it was a bag of wa*^ and so would probably avoid it. Also its copyrighted stuff too. I may be wrong but that's my opinion of it anyways.

He aint moaning

he does have a valid point tbf

we should just emulate dond & all these other machines but not use the decals, & possibly the alpha if thats possible

would we get away with it then?

I think if DOND were emulated, Bell Fruit would come down like a ton of bricks.

I dread to think what percentage of machines in the UK are DOND, but it's a high percentage of the AWP market. Bell Fruit probably paid a fair whack to use the license and Noel's face, and I'd expect them to be very protective of it.

My understanding is that when the Reel King and other S16 files were hosted here, Astra kicked off at the sites webmaster with legal threats, so I think not hosting them here is a rather good decision actually, not 'stupid' as you put it.

Everything you buy has a copyright..buying the product don't allow you to own the graphics or name etc...

Think of buying a CD and burning a copy, as you know you can't do that.

The thing we must remember is the machine makers do tollerate us--that we are thankfull for--then when we receive a request not only is it in our interests to adhere but it also shows respect to them for allowing us to exist.

Nope.

Emulation as such is not proved to be illegal but using ANY copyright material no matter how old is illegal. Max nee Bygraves if the rom is 2 years or 2 months old.

Really?

Like JPM did with Womb Raider and Captain Scarlet etc etc. In reality the manufacturers have done very little against FME if anything at all.

This type of scaremongering was only used as 'another' excuse for emu coders not to PUBLICALLY release certain goodies. :bigeyes11:

I'm not referring to new hi-tech machines here - ie. DOND

Lets be clear I'm refering to £500 astra machines:

Lets remind ourself these are RANDOM machines, playing them online for your whole life would give you no insight whatsoever as to a playing method for them, or give you any advantage over someone who has never played them before.

Surely all the demo random machine games available online (ie. those the online casinos offer) are no different to this? They put these demos on to try and encourage you to play the real game for cash- what difference is there in this case - surely offering a emulator of reel king 500 for example serves the same purpose as a demo of a different, but online casino game; ie. to encourage you to play the real game.

I fail to see what harm this could do and if anything is in astra's favour.

Bear in mind please that my comments only extends to RANDOM machines.

If you are talking about real £500 machines and not the sims that have appeared, they are not emulations. They are the real code.

But then again, maybe they are emulations. Our PC's being the emulator. That would work if these games were pretty much PC based anyways.
