Noticed a few times when searching for members that there are literally thousands of '0' post members and I would hasten a guess by the nicknames hundreds of dupe accounts.
Do the staff think it is about time for a purge? We do this fairly often at DADs as it helps keep the database nice and tidy.

right i know im not staff but i just wanna say that i think it a good idea because there are hard working people who make the layouts. there are people like me who have no clue about making layouts, but still post here. people could at least post here thanking the layout creators for their hard work etc.

they will
but it will reduce the number of leechers by quite a fair bit i'd imagine
& rubbish cruddy posts could not count towards the post count required

I think that new members should have low daily download limits at first then if they start posting in the forums that limit can go up.

One site I'm a member of you have to make 5 suitable post to be able to get any downloads and you are limited to how many you can download per week and the speed you can download them at. Lets face it if you have say a download limit of 15 per week that should be enough for new releases and other stuff and will stop this so called leaching.

that is a good system because people will appreciate what they are downloading.

Doesnt this defeat the object. People will only end up downloading them another way through torrents etc.
At least this way people actually are aware where they have come from.

Unfortunately the world we live in today, there is always someone who will try to rip people off.
If this happened, not only would it increase the amount of dicks who sell them on ebay, but also would try and take credit for the downloads in the first place.
What monitoring system would be in place? One sign up per household, IP blocks? It is not hard to change your IP so you could sign up twice..
You tell a child they cant have/do something what do they do?
Doing something like this will only make people go to all lengths to get something they are not aloud to have.

There is a hack for VB, that allows you to "hide" a password, which will only be revealed to a member when they have made a "thankyou" post.
Rar the download and use the advanced settings to password it.
We use this method on the site i moderate, and it works well.
Just a thought .
