great work to mame team...been playing all the games for a while now...it seem "sweet hearts and golden canaries" are the two only games that have bonus round , the other's just keep on spinning only , are they mean to be taht way.

We're not part of the MAME team. Anybody can submit their own driver or improvements.
Most games of that time just had a base game and only a small fraction of them had a bonus or second screen feature. Re-spin
and Re-spin with improvement seemed to be very popular concepts ( See Tequila Sunrise and Sweet Hearts ).
The **Phantom Pay**/ **Enchanted Pay** is actually a feature believe it or not, relatively new idea at the time although not a feature by today's standards.

I have been enjoying Golden Canaries/Sweet Hearts as I prefer the games with free spins. I played mostly MKV machines at the casinos here with my favourites being Golden Pyramids and Dolphin Treasure. I also enjoyed Indian Dreaming, Cuckoo and Money Mouse (although that mouse is a tough machine!) It seems the popular format today is free spins with a multiplier. Are there any more MK4 machines with features that I perhaps havent seen yet? There is almost no info on the games on the net and I cant even seem to find a game list. Strange the lack of info as the games are not that old. The early games I played were Penguin and Chicken, were these MK4 or only from MK5?
Whats Top Gear all about?
Looking foward to the next update to play around with this Robotest thing........

Top Gear would probably have been configured as a $1, or high credit value machine. The version in Mame is a 10c machine, with no double up.
However, it does have a 'feature' where you get to pick from 5 race cars, and you get to watch the race. Coral Reef 2 also has a feature similar to Sweet Hearts II , the main difference being it shows the number of free spins remaining.
What would really be nice is to get a game with the alternate gamble feature... x2 / x3 / x5 / x10 / x100

Golden Pyramids and Dolphin Treasure
DT is just a clone of GP, same reel strips with different art work, same paytable and math.

AFAIK there was no Mark 2.5 or IV version of Penguin Pays.

There was a MAME project for the iPhone but the author has been told to cease distribution
for breaking the TOL.
The current source available does not include the aristmk4.c driver.
Unless you're handy with C, I wouldn't even try to run them.
If the project was still going then I might be able to help.

Adding the driver to that source is relatively easy if you know what you're doing.
You just need IOS 4.0.1 SDK + Xcode to build it.
Will only work on Jailbroken phones btw.

@ Fraser - There use to be a MK2.5 game called Supebucks and that had a x2, x5, x10 gamble feature afaik.
This is quite interesting but i have actually seen several games with animations running on MK2.5 - i saw a black panther machine a while back which had animations (unlike 2.5 games) running on a MK2.5 i think (but it actually looked like a MKV machine layout) - i'm pretty sure it was running on a 2.5 machine because there were a few things such as not being able to spin a new game without the music finishing and the beep sound at the commencement of each spin...
