MFME will probably always be king for the gameplay side of things in the fruit machine world, especially with the high resolution artwork which really livens up the games. MAME is more about preserving the games on the hardware side, so it will probably not look as good in MAME even when they do start running, unless some really decent artwork has been created for it. It is an excellent starting point for running mechanical games in MAME though. With the video machines, it was a given that they would eventually end up in MAME.

On the Aristocrat side of things, they did make some Aristocrat 540 reel games (US style), although to get them running the games would naturally have to have decent artwork scans and reel strips done; dumping the ROMs on their own wouldn't be really useful outside being a backup and an indication that 'this game once existed way back in 19__'.

Any further updates on MK4 / Mk5 and beyond?

I know there's a few emulators for MK6 machines out there stand alone (50 Lions, Atlantis, Indian Dreams and Orchid) but these were a special one off thing.

I have the ROMs for Queen of the Nile and a couple other MK5 ROMS but none of them work so far.

Pretty frustrating really as we're seeing Aristocrat releasing EMUs for some newer machine via the US iTunes store, but as usual, are completely screwing the Australian population who's only access to these games are down at the local pub/RSL where millions are lost each year.

If there's any further updates to the EMU side of things to Australian pokies, let me know!

MK4 is almost complete as far as the emulation side of things goes. There are still some devices/signals not hooked up properly such as the note acceptor. I think there was also a problem with a "mechanical meters disconnected" error message displaying for U.S games but frasher has recently fixed it. My guess is that there won't be a submission before the note acceptor is added since U.S games won't be playable anyway.

As for Mark 5. The 2khz timer & dram emulator has been hooked up and are both working recently but there are still a bunch of tests ( serial comms/mikohn,serial eeproms & driver board signals ) to get through before we see any "familiar" screens.

It's not Aristocrat who are screwing players. Its the new regulations which impose so many restrictions on game design. This is the reason why the present games suck and the norm is less volatility, smaller but more frequent pays, crappy paying & frequent multi-screen features [ more of an annoyance because u only care about the FG ]. Big jackpots are a thing of the past. Play an old game if you can and I mean old. If you going to play a machine then King Of The Nile ( NSW version ) is the best out there since it was approved but forget it if you're in Queensland.. you can't repeat your free games.

I have noticed the older games being much better to play. MK5 Penguin Pays was always a good game to play because of the big features it used to hit, but try the MK6 version of it and the features tend to be smaller an come more frequently.
One of the newer games I have played recently was Koala Wild. It was very easy to get the feature, but off $1.25 it was hard to get a feature of more than $15.

Yes,basically back in 2001 the Australian government banned all online gaming within Australia, those online casinos in America and Europe have found a loop hole to allow users to play online through not having their business reg within Australian laws. Aristocrat , being Aust leading producer of these games, Im sure, would love to have a broader market in supplying this online. This is due to all the Federal governments legisalation on gambling and is going to be more restricted if they pass another law by 1 independant , who is holding the Gillard government to ranson by indroducing a law , whereby every Australian and visitor must have a ID card to go and gamble in the Casino,CLUB OR PUB and restrict all bets to a maximum of $1.This really is the lowest point in Australian democracy as no one voted for these changes in the last election and will force many of these premises to close there doors. There is a huge Australian backlash occurring now.Try playing Big Red $1 machine or FA FA FA , Ive won very big off these in the club and casino or 5 Dragons ,lucky88,I played an old favourite a 20 line Golden Canaries the other night and won $400 the other night of $20 at the local club. Any Australian who loves these can get an American ITunes account and download these onto your IPhone, Its the Australian governments restrictions and legislations that are screwing us all down under, many thanks to Palindrome for your hard work on mame...go harder, any chance you could emulate Bumble Bugs or Gone Fishin MK5 OR MK6? If you had the roms ?

I would love to know which club you went to which had Golden Canaries. I thought that game was dead.

Bumble Bugs (Mk5/6) and Gone Fishing (mk6) cannot be done at the moment as there is no emulation program to run them. We shall have to wait till one is developed.

Also I noticed someone has put up a video on youtube of a MK 6 emulator with games Lucky 88 and 5 Dragons. These arn't the Ipod or Bet365 versions, but programs on the computer. Can anyone shed some further light on this program?

They look legit, leaked emus from Aristocrat too!

I've PMd the clip posters to see if we can get access to their EMUs... love these games!

They both look ridiculously fake, look at videos of the original ones for comparison. They probably just ripped the graphics from the Bet365 version, or an EPROM dump if they actually had the game, and made a simulator around it.

I'm not so sure mate. I have the MK6 leaked EMU for Indian Dreaming, Atlantis, 50 Lions and Orchid and that's the real deal.

When working inhouse, the Aristicrat Devs have adhoc, 'dodgy' looking emulator front ends to test the game software on PCs.

These new ones look very similar to the previous MK6 EMUs, just updated to operate with the latest games.

If I can find a copy of these, I'll PM you and let you know. So far though, I haven't have any replies from the guy who originally posted them up on YouTube.

You won't find another leak, the four original games were test programs leaked from the factory by a former employee (who was probably fired beforehand so he got his own back by putting the games on the net). The 5 Dragons and Lucky 88 games were simply remade by someone using either the Bet365 graphics or ripped from the original EPROMs, if he had the game to begin with.

Don't think so freddy1, if you look at this and the other youtube vid the interface is completely different.

I am inclined to think the first one is the real deal, the guy who posted the original vid isn't replying though to PM requests for a link.

He's either dead (aristocrat got to him!), not logged into YouTube, or just an asshole who loves to tease.

If I get a further update though, I'll let you know.

They have released 50 lions (again) as an online slot. Anyone know how I can play this version for free?

Good point, however the same casino is likely to release other Aristocrat games which aren't emulated.
