The reason 50lionsa and indianmm work could be due to them both being NSW sets, the rest of the MAME sets are all Malaysian so it's likely that they may need a different base system (BIOS).
Thai Princess would theoretically boot up into the POST, but it will most likely fail its internal checksum. The missing data in the last chip is mostly sound effects and pointers to said sound effects, and strings/other data relating to graphical layout etc. The graphics and program code seems to be OK however.

It doesn't work like that, there aren't specific shared ROMs like you'd find on old arcade boards (or MK2.5/MKIV). Each game basically uses the EPROMs like a flash drive as opposed to using a bunch of chips for every single part. The only way to fix that set would be to redump the bad EPROM from another identical set - in this case, it has to be U72 from the set labelled 30127721, no other EPROM will work, even if it's from the same game but a different region or set (this is also true for MK5 dumps).

Small MAME MK6 update: 50lions and 50lionsa sets are now swapped, and Crystal Springs is now correctly named; 'cristals' changed to 'crystals'. These changes will take effect in the upcoming release (146u4 or 147, whichever is next). All internal names have been changed to game_id.location (e.g. all files look like 12345678.u90, which will match the ID numbers on each label).

hi there! i'm a noobie on this forum, but am loving this so far. i'm an american aristocrat player, started with mk6, but have played mk4 thanks to mame! i'm wondering how to start the games from the mk5 series. i know the combo to start for mk4 which is holding j and k, with z x and c, but just how do you get the mk5 series to work and except credits. what is the mk5 keyboard layout. i've seen those mk5 machines roaming around vegas, i think, we had a whole load of those guys in a local california casino in about 2003 to 2008. even though i wasn't age aproved yet, just loved the music and sound of the machines. faves being the unicorn, honky-tonk, addonis, queen of the nile, king of the nile, geisha, enchanted forest, and where's the gold. i'd love to play those machines with granny while i'm down at her place. but the ones i hope they add are the unicorn, return of the samurai, and penguin pays. granny used to play the heck out of penguin pays, used to walk past that machine without at least hearing one of those penguins honking.

Hi,
Has anyone played aristocrat video poker "Multi Draw Free Game"? This video poker is amazing and definitely my favorite. I wish I could find an emulated version. I believe it is MK5 series 2.
Cheers

Not dead, just nothing newsworthy to post, at least for the MK5 hardware. I think just about everyone has moved on, owing to the lack of support from people who could probably get these games running in mere minutes but don't want to since they're nasty old gambling games, not Sega NAOMI, MESS drivers or anything else that seems to be the current trend in the scene. Granted, there has been an absolute ton of work put into emulating PC compatibles and game consoles this year, despite MESS being years behind the world with that, at least they're doing it the right way instead of hacking the emulator to work with games like other emulators tend to do (Nintendo 64 and PlayStation for example).
In other news, Caribbean Gold (as in, Caribbean Gold "1") has been dumped and will be in the next major MAME release. Preliminary work for now, needs a bit of fiddling to get in-game, although it does work once it's set up and a Logic Door error is cleared (this is tied in with the coin input, so somewhere along the line this was changed compared to other games). A couple of its graphics ROMs have been donated to Caribbean Gold 2 as well, so this game should look a lot better than a garbled mess that it currently is now. Unfortunately, the PROM chip could not be read, so the palette (basically just the background colour) isn't correct until it can be dumped. Once the game is officially in MAME, one of our good friends will probably get it sorted in no time. Messing with one of the HOPCO2 inputs seems to insert 4 credits (US $1 banknote), which also doesn't happen on any other game.
Nash: If it ends up acquired and dumped, it will be in MAME, however the MK5 hardware is not fully emulated at this point (also noticed your post on NLG a while ago) so don't get your hopes up for a working version of this game. Personally, I have never seen a MK5 video poker (or MK6 for that matter), only MK2.5/MK4 '540' poker and VLC Winning Touch poker games, so it would be an interesting find if one did turn up.

I don't suppose anybody has had any luck hooking up the coin tumbler to mame, it seems to me this would be the main neat thing to have hooked up, it's just a motor that spins the tumbler to dispense the coins when you win or collect your winnings, ideally I will get my cabinet working with the original game boards but if I have to gut it and install a mame machine it would be nice to keep the coin tumbler.
Also I had no idea Australia was so restrictive on who can buy and own old Aristocrat machines, here in New Zealand you can just buy them on trademe, I picked up a White Tiger video slot for $5 the other day, quite pleased with that, apparently the game board is fried, but I haven't had a look at it yet, it might not be.

Time to get a bit of life back into this thread!
Significant progress has been made with MAME Mk5 emulation in recent times.
However I'm stuck in trying to create working NVRAM for US sets that require setchips. I can switch setchips in an out and can see which setchips are working with any given game. I've been choosing jurisdictions that allow hopper only, turning off com protocols and can setup coin/credit values correctly but no matter what I do I have errors back in game that prevent coinup.
The Mk5 driver text has many helpful tips but is relatively silent on these particular US sets
Any tips would be appreciated!
