Palindrome are you going to start the mk5 games after you have done the mk4 games and when do you think the mk4 games will be done.

I will not be working on the Mark 5 driver.
Mainly for legal reasons. Mark IV is basically dead platform and needs to be preserved.
Mark Vs on the other hand are still operated in large numbers.

Palindrome - I saw you mentioned on another forum that MK4 would be playable from the next release of Mame. I see U2 is out but nothing mentioned about mk4 - any news?

Gentlemen. We have some good news.
There is a project running by mr Guru at dump roms
for what i know he has found a way to decapping the copyrighted roms info here..
it is a pricey attemp. $200 per rom. so whoever has MKV rom to be decapped
and we will donate too. for process like this can take days instead of years!
this is great stuff

Re: Mark5 - They are not encrypted. If you could be bothered and know what you are doing you can easily see/rip most resources.
The real problems are;
No docs on the Acorn Arm250TG CPU on the whole internet. (no serious!) (I even emailed a few companies in china who sell this chip would you believe).
While some of the programmers (not me, I am just a messenger and excited like most here to get something running) are already working blind, what does not help is it seems the system is custom built too. But if anyone can find *proper* docs on the CPU (not the usual old mk5 schematics floating around) but proper tech information on this specific ARM CPU than that's a start.
The other problem is, while this is platform is 15 years old, it's still in use here and there and people don't really want to do much at the moment. Where as mark 4 is totally over.

Really interesting project. I had no idea it existed.
Pokiesfun is correct, there is no problem with reading the resources from the ROMs.
btw... U3 contains recent changes made to the Mark 4 system.
Cheers.

How do you use it? It says metering error when you load it

That's because you need to clear the NVRAM first.
Go into audit which it does on its own anyway, press the jackpot key and then press reset, aux & memtest simultaneously.
Then press the jackpot key then press the audit key.
You may still have tilt up but you will still be able to play. Press audit twice if tilt msg bothers you.

For the NVRAM reset, you may need to remap the PB6 (reset) key as keyboard ghosting may prevent 3 keys next to each other being pressed.

I noticed on another forum you had a different game - ffortune.zip - will that be made available? I also saw in the U3 update there was mention of a fix by Tafoid of autmoon (aristmk4). Any info?
Anyway, great job on the emulation and thanks :-)

U87 was too big that's all, the same data was repeated 4 times. It should be 8kb like in all the other sets.

Thanks for the feedback.
You may have noticed that the jackpot key and take-win default map to the same key ( oops ) so I'll fix that
in the next update but you can just change it for now.
FrasheR came up with a work around for Topgear which is now playable, the work around mimics part of the Cashcade System protocol but we fully don't understand it yet.
Robo test is now working. This is the diagnostic mode of the machine. The combination test is quite useful in which it can be used as a learning tool for those of you who are interested in the math/probability side of the game design process for Poker Machines.
