Let's hope this site starts losing a few people. I thought that was clear from my post.

What is wrong with charging for downloads, it costs to host them?

Ive exceeded my daily allowance wtf is this?. Going lose alot of people if you are now charging to download!.

The unfortunate reality is that people like this can't see that they are leechers who have nothing positive to donate to the scene.

Losing people such as the above, who are actually quite rude when there is a problem, yet don't contribute anything at all, wouldn't cause me to lose any sleep...

Erm if i was a able to do layouts or knew more about emulations i would donate, as i dont im contributing by being here at this site.. no people no site! noone being rude except from your comment to me.. now thats rude!!!

Dont see what the problem would be with that..if the site owners Duplu and Wozza decided that was the best way forward..i wouldnt have problem with that as im sure many other people on the site wouldnt.

Whats the hassle of waiting till tommorow to get your daily allowance back..dont see how you could use it all anyway unless your raping the site for 5gb of data per day.

Okay..put it this way..how many new releases are there each day ?

1..2 possibly 3 and at each one at say roughly 12mb if you had a daily allowance of say 250mb ?

How could you possibly use all that up in the one day ?

Dont you have previous layouts already stored on your HD or when you want to play them again you redownload the whole lot.

i only just got that message today hence why i didnt know what it meant. I did have many on HD but had to delete them as slowed pc right down. If theres a daily allowance thats fine, but i thought from now on i would have to pay to download anything again.

how small must your HD be then?

i had over 1k layouts & that came to only about 5gb

ok, i know most people here dont give a flying shit about fruitytalk and all that, coz face it... Even i know, Fruit-emu is Much better, as it has been around for so long... But i have my fair share of leechers, and its bloody annoying.

Because there is so few regular posters, it obviously makes me feel that it has become a leeching site.

I could give you a list of about 600 Users, who each have downloaded at least 10 Files, and have yet to post anything constructive towards the site.

If i could come up with ways of stopping this i would, however due to the fact we are still very new (1 year now), and need as many members as we can, and hoping we pull in some regular contributors with these new members, i cannot really restrict anything to new members, until a couple of months after they sign up..

I Think this is a fantastic idea to whoever set it up (duplu or other admins).... And appluad the risk taken towards putting off the leechers. (its a risk because it copuld annoy some regulars, but at the end of the day... Its still the same site and stuff, just less downloads a day)

Really? well there is loads of tutorials on this site and dads fme as well.
so what is stopping you? and some pukka guys always willing to help get peeps started. as for contributing to the site ,what the heck are you contributing?. and why complain about people being rude to you?
you are the one being rude by complaining about your daily ratio.
the rule applies to EVERYONE and i don't see any one else moan about it.

TBH i dont think that they have changed the download limit or have they? If i remember back there was a time when you was only able to dl about 5 files a day or was that if you was not a member i cant remember. How much did you dowload yesterday btw? Must of been alot?

I think if this stops the leaching twats that come hear and download hundreds of files in a short time then so be it. If you come on this site and dont post then do when you cant download then that just goes to show how much of a ---- you are.

i will pay quite happerly cause i think this site is the tits and we should appreciate what we have of this site and the resources

Yeah thats fair enough, not everyone can make layouts (I can't).

You say you are contributing by being here... fine, but contributing only by downloading stuff doesn't actually keep the scene alive, does it.

Posting on the forums, however, is a different matter... literally everyone can do that.

Did you not wonder why everyone was being rude to you, and that it wasn't just me?

I admit in the first week or so, I downloaded quite a few layouts (think around 50). But never came across a limit. Since then I read the forums daily (not always posting), and appreciate what people have done. Now there is the issue of the cost of the site, downloads pump up the cost, so I think a limit would be good. In response to Rh and the 5 downloads, I think I remember years ago, when I first looked at this site there was such a limit for non members or non posters or something like that.
