I have recently build a new PC and everything had been going fine. Just recently my Dvd drive has been behaving oddly, the Dvd drive is from the old PC. It is a Toshiba/Samsung model number TS-H552D. The drive was working ok in the old machine.
The problem is the when I intalling certain games I get a crc error or a data.cab error. This happens when I use downloaded games and shop brought games, even dragging the files off the disc gives the same error. These discs works ok on other machines.
The strange thing is that Windows (cough version ) installed with no problems and some other games installed with no problems. The games in Question are Burnout Paradise, Fall Out 3, Far Cry and Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. These have been verified as working on other PC's.
I have a new Hard Drive installed, the same problem happened on the old Hard Drive. I have a second Toshiba/Samsung Dvd Drive (model TS-H652M) and same thing happened on the drive.
Can anyone shed any light on the problem?
Thanks
Jaks

The error also occurs on some genuine discs and the discs are in perfect condition with no scratches or scuff marks.

Thanks for the reply

I suggest trying another IDE cable.
