Its been a while since I did a proper update so here goes...
More stuff works now...
128k unprotected roms run ok. (empire, MDM, anythign without a CHR)
For 64k and under most early games run fine now. A few later games crash out, but mostly those with large extender boards so I am hoping its related to that.
The small extender is in but wrong. I think I know what it needs but its finding the time. It'll get done before release.
Large extender is at present unemulated.
A milestone has been hit as the first game to run in FMEF that is a non-runner in MFME has been found. Frank 'n' Stein, by Crystal is now a runner (see seperate thread).
Another game from the recent bucket-o-roms called Big Dipper is doing a lot more in FMEF than it does in MFME. At present in MFME it flashes INIT ABD repeatedly. In FMEF it boots the reels up and puts reel lamps on before resetting in an endless loop. Not a runner, for sure, but its a step in the right direction.
BWB characteriser is on hold until I get some testing done on my own machine.
A very crude attempt is in there but it really doesnt do much.
Sound has been removed whilst I find a better way to handle it. Its something I still need to sit and study for a bit. Much data sheet studying is required here. In fact, since finding an example syntehsizer on line, I think synth sound might be easier than sampled.
It depends on time mainly, but hope to get something in before release.
The emulator itself is a lot more stable now, its the fastest release yet too.
A lot more internal updates now, rather than cosmetic. Its on the way, just as soon as it is ready.

Thanks for all the time and hard work you are putting into this. Can't wait to see the finished article, whenever that may be.
What tec is Crystal's Frank'n'Stein on?

Had a good chat with Guitar on the blower last night and he was kind enough to run through the basics of making a layout.
So Bugs and myself will be giving that Frank n Stein layout a go, it will probably be a classic although doing a DX is almost identical. Let you know more when I have more to add.
Cheers Guitar and keep up the good work...

Well I got the Big Dipper ROMs running, it turns out that its actually BWB * Classic * Adders and Ladders (Copied from the Alpha display). Either way, the rom doesnt run in MFME and does in FMEF.
But its a step in the right direction.

Have got past the security on some roms labelled INT £6.bin. Says resetting INT 1.1 on the alpha, what is it? Its hangs up looking for a percent key now, but the security has been worked around. As soon as the percent key code goes in, its a runner.

Sampled sound is now in and working. Still need to import samples from mfme, but its a step in the right direction. Now just need to work on getting the decryption working and thats sampled sound done.

Great work, well done. Sounds like this is coming along a treat.
Did you have any joy with the BWB and Crystal MPU4 ROMs?

Not as yet. There are a couple that run, but not the full CHR set.The idea right now is to get sampled sound in, hopefully get synth sound in and get version 1.2.0 out there. Its a big task to do those roms, and whilst I have put in a lot of debugging tools and am making fair progress with it, it will take longer than I want. At least with a proper public build out there, people can start on some layouts.

Small steps make big journeys. Thanks for the update, mate.
