Right here goes, down loaded mfme and got the roms and layouts in but it takes ages to load then hangs when you choose a fruit machine.... I have read round the forum and updated the ac97 thingy to 4.06 and also updated direct x to from 8 to 9, I am runing XP. But still the problem persists.... Just for a test I restarted windows in safe mode and MFME seemed to work so I am guessing its some sort of software clash but not sure what.... any tips out there?

Just get the latest sound drivers for ur sound card, that in most cases would sor the problem out.

I am assuming you are dealing with a Realtek AC97 chip, so yes A4.06 is the latest version.

What I would suggest next is to run the registery part of CCleaner, and fix all, as it's not very apparent what the fault is....

CCleaner - Download

Use the alternative download link, as the file hippo one can be a bit stubbon at times.

Yeah..as Stan says a few members have reported the same problem with the Realtek sound chip.

Try updating your drivers and see if the problem persists.
