Hi everyone first post here. My local arcade owner is getting in the £70 jackpot machines but insists they are only 50 pence stakes. from what i was eharing the £70 machines were going to be £1 stakes. Just curious if anyone else has these machines near them and what the playability is liek with them. I must admit i hate the £35 at50 pence stakes so the prospect of a £70 at 50p suggests that £30 - £40 for a board might not be out of the question.

Dont think i will be venturing out to the arcade anytime soon then. i am having problems enjoying it at the moment. all the machines here have been "changed" so nothing but big streaks building which although profitable are simply no fun. You think we will be able to give an exact date AWP became a defunct term?

Think it happened sometime in the mid 90's

LOL sounda bout right. sadly i missed the "golden age" of fruitys and have onyl know the £5/£25 to the modern crap. Have had some fun on the way but have to admit its getting dire. Used to be able to walk into an arcade with £50 and have a good couple of hours play (not all the time agreed). But have been on one such venture and not seen any change from £100 in 20 minutes. anyone know anywhere where some of the classic machines are still being run? Even a selection of £5jp machines would be fine!!

Sadly I have to agree with the other posters in this thread. The 'amusement' factor went a long time ago. I have not played a machine in over 7 years due to the fact that they became boring. When they went up to £10 jackpots that was probably the peak time and they were fun to play and done big streaks. It seems the manufacturers will not learn and insist on increasing the jackpot value and kill the playability. A lot of punters I know who still gamble claim that the £500 jackpot machines are really killing the scene. How long before they have these in pubs?
Let's smash Partytime.

I dont think it will be too long tbh. We used to have a roulette gambler back in out local which printed receipts for winnings. I think max bet was a bout 5 quid but still thats a potential £180 back. (could be wrong with max bet here as i never bet more than a pound). I dont think it would be a far cry till we see a rainbow riches £35jp in the pubs to play alongside the quiz machines. After that its only a matter of time till the £500 machine rolls in. i think a pub coudl eventually be licenced to have one such machine imho. The day that happens i wil give up drinking!
