Well from the day i was on the internet i've always used internet explorer with no problems but after hearing so many good things about firefox i've given it a try -

1. I've heard it's faster - seems no different from internet explorer

2. The buggers made me type in all my usernames for sites again

3. What is actually "soooo good" about it, no matter how smalleerr detail I wanna know why it's better than internet explorer.

Morning :)

Think ive tried them all Opera,Safari,Chrome,Firefox,Maxathon,Avant i know there is probably more but ive always went back to IE.

I know Firefox is a far superior browser security wise but just can get used to the layouts and functions of other browsers.
Mmmmmm...Sandy ive 'ad her ye know. :)

IE doesn't format some sites correctly.

Firefox is substantially faster than IE, in fact all other web browsers are.

Other browsers are updated for any security flaws sooner.

I know they are working to make IE8 as fast and as secure as firefox.

Downloaded IE8 RC1 a couple of weeks ago and it lasted all of 3 minutes on my PC.

It just looks crap..too busy too fussy..thank gawd it gave me the option to uninstall it.

Isn't that Microsoft's problem though. They're always fighting to catch up with FF rather than being innotive like Safari.

Firefox is far superior security wise. I had a virus on my computer about 12 months ago that was causing pop ups galore (Pretty sure I asked on here for help) Anyway nothing seemed to stop it, then I switched to Firefox and Firefox prevented all pop-ups with a security warning every time, a few weeks later and the problem was gone completely.

Also as has been mentioned some sites run much better on firefox. It is different to begin with but you soon get used to it, you just need to learn your toolbar functions.

If Bill Gates had a nickel every time he heard someone say that a rival browser was faster than IE, then....Oh wait!

I'm on IE8 within Windows 7. Fast, and so far security seems fine. Sites all work, and I still have activex which is useful as the others can't support that...

I use Firefox because I have noticed a difference in the speed. But there's one problem with it - which may be Firefox or just my crap computer, but every time I goto a secure site i.e. online banking, it just disappears and you have to load it back up - this can continue for another 3 or 4 tries.

I was getting that too, changed to the new beta and not had the problem so far. The beta definitely seems better IMO.

Hmm, i bank online/pay for stuff on a regular basis & i've never had a problem of it blanking out

only on I.E where it just freezes up as it doesn't like secure connections

as stated above i think it really is just a matter of choice. Some sites are better in firefox over IE, others are better in IE over firefox. Personally i swear by IE but have safari on the laptop, the whole "faster" issue really is a nonsense IMO, the time differences for all browsers involved are albeit measurable, to the user basically negligable. In apples recent tests when developing the new safari, IE was actually the second most responsive (behind theirs of course!) ahead of firefox.

Did they try the firefox speedup settings before this test though?
