Hi there. I had a quick go on Power five today and although as per normal i was on a mystery within 5 spins i managed to get mega shot on red feature. on the reels cherries, melons and a red box wild. Pressing my luck i thought i would take it and go for the Wild knowing that a bigger win that £5 could be obtained. Now the machine spun in £6 worth of cherries and lemons eventually with several dead spins along the way, and just when i thought that was that, the machine rolled in a jackpot making the total £41. Now i have to admit i didnt check if a credit had been taken, but i didnt think that a.) prizes over £35 could be awarded off a single stake and if that was the case; see a feature (not top feature) take a second credit to continue. I could have got the complete wrong end of the stick here but i was under the impression the maximum you can win in one go (from a stake) is £35 and anything extra can be won only if a further stake is taken. anyone know the answer to this? I mean it might be just that a credit was taken (pretty sure it wasnt) but i have never known a non-top feature to require extra credit to continue unless it was a "repeat chance" or a streak. I guess i sound like i am complaining when i should be happy with the win (trust me i was, i ended up with a rare profit) buti am just trying to gain an understanding on how some of the machines work. I mean it is possible to obtain jackpot off any feature i would presume but to get over the jakpot on one credit seems wrong from what i understand on laws of these thing. Anyone got the answer or had similar?

Now for a more sensible answer.
The disclaimer on the machine that says -
NO MORE THAN THIRTYFIVE POUNDS CAN BE WON FROM THIS MACHINE IN ANY ONE GAME
should mean exactly that.
However, I've also seen instances where you can win more than the jackpot amount in one credit. Afterwards the game has either crashed or froze, deducted the excess(!) or simply carried on as normal.
So Benny, it can happen, whether it's an oversight, a bug or whatever.
I also find it interesting that on Classic DOND (the 4-reeler 10p play/5-quid jackpot) every time you get Mega Streak it ALWAYS passes the 50/50 on the credit break and goes for more than 5 pounds (6.60 mostly!). So they're clearly ignoring the technical standards there, or applying some sort of clever interpretation.

Watch out! There's a SIG thief about...

Thanks Steve. i thought it was 35 max and although was happy to see
the jackpot roll in it was very wierd but more importanty it made me think
just how much these machines are teetering on the edge of legality.
next up is to find out if the % is correct in my arcade i swear some of
the machines are well below what they say

Have to admit i try and stay away from the £35 machines but having played all the 10p £5 in the arcade i thought was worth a small wager. Payed off this time but im sure if i play it again Noel will once again as me "Oh how do you feel?"

I had the same thing on the deal or no deal low tech with the phone on top. I had the £25 and the mega streak left and it offered me £29.47 which was very strange. I collected as i knew it was the £25 and not the MS

I saw a video of the same thing on youtube where an offer was higher than the Jackpot amount. That really cant be legal can it? I mean its plain as mud on the cabinet that no more than £xx.xx can be one in anyone game. So is that a breaking of the law? If it means less DOND games i am all for that!!

You're not imagining things Benny, it's a rare(!) example of shoddy coding. I've seen £50 myself. Lots of dead spins, a roll in of jackpot and other various wins. Very peculiar. No credit break, so illegal. It needs to be fairly buzzed to get the feature red with a wild in view and isn't that easy to play for and it doesn't always go over £35, or indeed anywhere near £35, so it's not a playable for rip, more like something to bear in mind.
However keep it quiet, don't go shouting about it on a public forum
As for DOND 4 reelers, used to be a good one in the aforementioned arcade in Gloucester. The machine was released under the £25 jackpots, but knowledge of the £35 upgrade was now in the ether. The guaranteed credit break was basically a nudge nudge, wink wink, not really a £25 top feature, more like the top feature you'd get on a £35er, which is why it used to give £33/£34/£35 via one break from top feature when not streaking.
On £35 jackpot it could often just give a flat top.
Finally that lo-tech casino DOND, the first chips on £25 jackpot gave cranky offers on the DOND game. You could have the £10 and Mega Streak boxes left and it'd offer £2.76 or £0.01, so a £29.76 offer is believable enough, however it may have been a £35 machine that still had the £25 decals displayed.
