Use Hit the Top ROMS for this release. These are avaliable from the Download section.

Yet more confusion caused by another poor attempt to "emulate" (term used very loosly) a machine using its artwork with different roms.
Why not put the roms in the zip for these so called emulator releases.
Better still why not wait for the technology to be properly emulated!

You are correct, but because the ring a bell roms are not avaliable, and hit the top is a clone machiine, in this case it is appropriate and better than not releasing at all as this is a very good layout.
You will note in the layout comments it tells you which ROMS to use.
The Layouts & ROMS are split for legal reasons, in case these have to be moved at short notice, i.e. a fruit machine manufactuter comes knocking on my door!
It has been relaxed as of late as you will have noticed on some new releases, but there can be no guarantees on this as you can appreciate

Your reply is based on the assumption that simulation is as good as emulation, a view not shared by a lot of people!
After all, its FME, not FMS.

I would like to point out (as author of Ring a Bell) that this layout was done as a request from a long serving member of the FME scene. I am reliably informed that the ‘Hit the Top’ roms used for this layout are virtually identical anyway so I fail to see the problem.
As for not including the roms, well most people don't. It's the usual way, particularly in this case as most people would already have the 'Hit the Top' roms anyway. Its only due to the good nature of the hosts of this website that you are able to download both the layout and the roms (if not included) from the 'front-end' menu without having to search for them, and for that they should be congratulated.
Rather than criticise those of us who put time and effort into designing layouts for people like you to download free (and no-ones asking you to) I suggest in future you keep your comments to yourself!

Ideally I should remain neutral but I feel I must say I totally agree with you DAD. It just makes me mad when people criticise services which are free.
I'm surprised nobody has noticed (and commented) yet that my emulation of Pot of Gold uses a Crystal flyer with ACE ROMs. Basically you have to use what is available at the time.

This is a free country, these are free forums and I am free to criticise any aspect of emulation as I see fit, as a consumer and provider, the same as anyone is free to criticise the layouts I have released in the past (because my name here is JustInfo, don't assume I am some unknown person who has only just arrived in FME).
If you can't take criticism of your layout then why release it? Besides, I didn't even criticise the layout itself, but the choice to use graphics from a machine that is not actually emulatable.
If you wish to deny that these sim hybrids cause confusion, look at any of the threads where people ask for things like "where can I find the 777 Heaven roms". These are only the few requests that you actually get to see. It was that confusion that I was highlighting.
You have done some excellent layouts DAD and I have no problem with them. The only view I have is that these hybrids don't have a place in FM*E*. Hey to each his own, but I am perfectly entitled to my view without you telling me I have to keep comments to myself. If everyone took that attitude, we would never post to forums at all.

Thanks!!
As for the rest of your post, I feel you are in the minority. Many people welcome any release whether it be a 'hybrid' or not.
Everyone has difficulty locating layouts and roms in the beginning, it's part of their initiation into FME. It's the same for everybody!
I also welcome critisism in any shape or form, but I and others who I have spoken to feel that your comments on this occasion were unwarranted.
You say that you have been a provider to FME in that past. If so, why post under a different name? Now to me that's confusing!!

Ahhh I don't need to stay neutral as i'm a user of these Sim's Rom's..whatever form they are or form they come in and in no way connected with any sites......I don't write nor program them.....All i do know is i'm thankful there are people like pook, duplu, DAD, mort, troutman, fruitassasin.....etc, if I use one of your sim's emu's (or whatever) then--thank you too, as I get a lot of enjoyment from them and so do hundreds of others. This as I find it is a friendly site, there is no 'big-know-it-all's ....... NEWSFLASH.........yes there's one !!!!! who TRY to give this their-all-wrong-attitude, why????....if you know it all then try not being so b****y negative all the time.........

I don't know it all far from it. I don't claim to either. As for a "their-all-wrong-attitude" I am perfectly entitled to give my point of view thank you very much. If you don't like what I say, don't read it in future!
If you would care to look at the posts I have made so far, I have posted a lot of useful information in the other sections. How one comment about sims is being "B****y negative all the time........." I don't know.
One thing I do know though, most of the names you have posted have never released a sim!
