Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of doing up my arcade a bit, its starting to look a bit drab. I have a light blue/gray paint on walls, with posters in frames on the walls, mostly of naked models, but some footballers, cars and other stuff too. I want to change all my machines about too. Has anyone any ideas of what i could do with it, maybe a theme or something like that. What yous think?

Thanks,

Anthony

I'd like an arcade where i can look on the walls and it's got signs for where all the machines are..

By that i mean I hate walking round corners and finding a collection of party times or penny pushers when i'm looking for the low techs.... Signs to the nearest change machine wouldnt go a miss either..

But seriously - does anyone really look at the walls when they are in the arcade ? Why not paint some fruity's on there or plaster it with manufacturer logo's and fruits ?

Not sure the Gambling Commission would be keen on that.

In an ideal world for the Gambling Commission, you'd need 5 x A3 posters per metre cubed telling people how dangerous gambling is :)

Anyone else getting the impression this is a dive of an arcade run by someone without a clue? I mean we seem to get daily threads about knackered machines and I presume it's not even a big arcade. Not only that, the decor seem completely inappropriate.

No?

Just me then.

tbh ben i get that very same impression aswell m8

would be nice to see some pics of said arcade tho

having very lack of knowledge of running or repairing machines is basically pointless to say the least and using fruit emu for every machine that goes wrong isn't good

it might be a very good idea for red-14.com to go onto a coinslot course to learn the basics atleast

I would say it sounds like my room, but pictures of women don't interest me in the slightest.

Got 2 x Japanese Pachislot machines in there, and a Pachinko machine which requires some upkeep, boxes full of spares for PCs, fruit machines and consoles... and that's about it really. Oh, and a bed. The bed is pretty much secondary to all the other stuff I've accumulated in there.

I really do disagree with the notion that 'oh, gamblers are young men, therefore we'll put up pictures of naked / semi-naked ladies and that'll encourage them to stay'. I actually find it pretty offensive that someone would assume that because I have compulsive gambling tendencies, I'll be swayed by a shitty poster. Fact is, I'd be more likely to stay if the staff knew what they were doing and appeared professional and/or knowledgable.

I also strongly disagree with businesses operated by people who exploit without an actual understanding. In this case, I see someone who hasn't a clue about running machines, constantly asking for help with simple machine issues, from the look of it running an arcade with blatant disregard for the standards expected by the Gambling Commission.

It's such a shame - in the old days, you could find amusement arcades operated by people with a genuine interest in machines - they'd keep the machines in tip-top condition, and be happy to discuss machines.

Mind you, I hardly fit into a normal mindset, so you can probably disregard everything I say on the matter :)
