Hi there. I have a Barcrest Costa del Cash fruit machine. It has started giving me the code " ALARM 54-28 NO 24V DRIVE OPTO". I have had the machine for a year now with no problems up to this. I am not technically minded and am not sure what I need to do with this! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like a problem with one of the reels to me. First thing I'd do is to check all the connections, but I fear it might be something more serious.

I'm sure one of the tech guys will be along soon to give you some better advice.

Yep what dada says, i am sure this has been posted before , and it was a reel senser opto alarm. so have a look inside the machine and see if the sensors are in place.just in between the reels, they look like little plastic clip ons. afaik. i had a machine years ago and it had the same error. so i am sure that's what it is, :undecided: but one of the techs will probably give you advice when they log on.

Sounds like the 24V supply from the PSU is to blame. Perhaps it's a fuse, which will hopefully be located on the top of the PSU.

If the fuses seem OK, then unless you are confident in taking a PSU apart, my first advice would be to swap out the PSU for another one.

PSUs are quite reasonably priced, the main issue is the weight which will increase postage costs, but you could always try a local supplier if you can't get hold of one through here.

The clips seem fine between the reels, fuses look okay so psu looks likely.

I just double checked the fuses, one 10A has slight clouding on it, fuse looks ok but will buy another for elimination!
