coz i am in the chatroom alot with the other guys who showed me how to make the machines i think it would be a good idea for people to come in and learn how to make them.myself and hurtland165 are willing to teach the guys on here.when we are in the other chatrooms there as not a day gone by without someone asking how we do then.if you would like to learn plz vote for it so we can show you how thanks

Good idea flyer if only to start with the chat rooms were used more, i'm not too sure it's justified to have a 'stand-alone' one for designing, after all isn't that the general purpose of FME Chat?...I have picked up loads of little bits of info from it as I have been there and taken note at the same time as talking about the weather---But having tried to make layouts and not done too well I would certainly not visit a dedicated one as I would end up with no hair!!...but in a mixed room who knows that missing bit of info may be passed and everything fall into place.

Sounds like an idea...but i feel the knowledge base that duplo and wozza are setting up may have more merit..including detailed howtos and guides... so a dedicated room may be a slight waste of resources...

that is a good reply there rb but when i fist joined here i wanted to know how you guys made these machines.i know chit chat as just been added and not many people use the chat rooms.but if we had one room where thay can come to learn how to make the machines we might get more people into them . i remember someone teaching me how to make the machines rb and where was that.in a chat room late at night.you told me how to make them and if it was not for you i would still not no how.
there is people on here willing to give there time to the people for free.so you have got nothing to lose

Does sound like a nice idea in practice but I'm sure if anyone wants any tips or advice, the normal chat rooms would have people in them who would gladly give any advice. Setting up a dedicated chatroom could mean those willing to help, could well be tied up in such a room with very little happening if theres no one about wanting help. I'd hate to be in a 'help' type chatroom whilst the action was all happening in another room.

Flyer, you mention that not a day goes by that someone asks you about how to make layouts. You sound like you've developed quite a posse of followers eager to hassle you lol. It is good when people ask for advice and you have the knowledge to pass on. The thing is, for every 10 people who ask for advice to create their first layout, only a small amount of those people actually have the patience to follow through their project and create a working layout. I'm all for helping everyone who requires help. If only things were that simple.

just want to say i agree with flyer about chatroom without me getting to know him and flyer giving me step by step help i would never have been able to do my first machine.... so big thanx to flyer for his time and patience in helping me
and the idea of a chatroom for learners is a brilliant one
