When I first turn on my laptop its fine, but after 10/15 minutes it gets very slow and i start to get a message saying my memory is running low! I have just done a factory restore and its not hardly got anything on it so why am I having this problem? If anyone can shead some light then could you please let me know. Also how can I force the laptop to do crash and memory dump, this might help but not sure.

Do I need more memory as the free memory value is low, and often is at zero.

how do i do that? I have no idea
WELL CAN ONLY GIVE YER TH XP VERS...
start /cont panel/system/advanced/performance/settings/virtual memory
then change the paging file value 1024/1024 on the main c drive...
WHY NOT TRY DELETING SOME OF THOSE HIDDEN STARTUP PROGRAMS FIRST..THATLL MAKE A BIG DIFFRENCE

ok system idle is 92% and the rest are using 0%, so they are not running just loaded at start-up.
Google some stuff and see if they are crucial to your system..
The very simple start>run>msconfig and stop some loading...
Temp was mentioned, also a good file to clean once and again is also %temp%

AH..could well be a SPOOF SYNCHOST.EXE...ive had a few of those..thing is is finding out which one is the BOGUS ONE..
SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY..has always worked for me..(not with the shitty tea timer bit on tho...)
also on that it has many advanced applications such as a quite comprehensive startup and process killer/manager
AND ITS SAFE AND FREE;)

Try using Tuneup Utilities. You can go through all processes and start up programs and switch the on or off at will.

But that's on windows xp and I'm on visa 64bit sp2 which has much more processes running. Managed to get it down to 58/62 but the memory just goes down and down when windows firsts loads.
I made a recording of it so you can see what I mean, its best wached in HD and full screen.

Can you do the video again and make sure you click on the "show processes from all users" as it is not showing the full process list at the moment.
Or could you click on it and put up a before and after to show all the processes running.
Thanks

Erm, is the only issue you have that WIndows shows very little free memory? Vista does this by design by using available memory to cache system files and other items. This makes the system generally run better as it uses the disk less. With (only) 3GB RAM on Vista 64, you're unlikely to ever show much RAM available. As processes request memory, Windows drops the less essential / used items from the cache.
In a nutshell, what you're seeing is fairly typical, and unless the laptop is performing poorly I'd not give it any more thought.
