I know they're not fruit machines but still, I was interested to know if anybody knows anything about these, in terms of winning. What are the odds of winning on them? I don't remember ever seing anything about pay-out on them.

I like playing these games now and again, bit of brain exercise and a quid lasts longer than in a fruitie! I've won a few times on Cluedo (Few £5's for lighting all bonus suspects, few Cash prizes here and there for accusations and '?' screens. Along with one, and only one jackpot win...mrs white, lead piping, dining room...ahhhhh...)

It'd be interesting to know how often they pay out and why they decide to do so! Just my curious mind wondering how they work...
I'm back! yay!

Basically they are supposed to pay out in a similar wat to an AWP - about 70%. Unfortunately AFAIK they can't guarentee a percentage and hence can't stick one on the front of the cabinet.

What I do know is that knowing the answers to all questions asked does NOT mean that you will win - but gives you less chance of losing!

EXAMPLE - I used to play Maygay 'Super Clue' on a £5/£40 dual stake. You could get all the answers right on every question - but you would need one last letter [seem to remember it was based on Hangman, collecting letters from a wraparound trail] - and it would NEVER land on it. So - why are they called Skill with Prizes when using all of your available skill does not guarentee a prize?

I think that is why they are banned on the Island of Maroney [can't remember the island he lives on] - they can't guarentee a percentage payout and they do not involve any real skill. On 'Maroneys' island, the minimum percentage for an AWP is also, from what I remember, about 82%.

Sounds like my kind of island :)

I dont remember the name of this one but i do know of it.There was a clone with Sealions or seals instead of cards. This got removed promptly from my local arcade as there were a few that sussed it BIG time !.

They dont have the balls to release a SWP like that thesedays.

Anyone remember The CRYSTAL MAZE swp from about 10 years back.T'was £1 per play with £5 jp.You could pick skill games throuout the zones giving you crystals. The more crystals you got the more time you got in the dome.Class game for a pound and very easy to tell if its ready to pay as it offered TONS of gold tikets in the dome.

Oh yeah...Crystal maze....i was really good on that at one point and i only choose the skills games...the thing i found was...when u got the jackpot, even if the person after collects all the crystals, there wasn't enough gold to cover the amount of silver u will collect.....but after its taken say £8, then its possible to get the jackpot again...so i used to just wait until someone has a few goes b4 jumping on itand getting jackpot...now u know why i got so good on it....its people like me that u hated....hey come on..i had to make a living...my part time job didn't pay me enough and i had 2 mouths to feed...me and my ex!

The JPM Touchscreens seem to be based on IMPACT fruities, but with a fancy expansion board.

As for Crystal Maze, that's a personal favourite of mine, and it's my main aim to get that in MAGE ASAP.
