Here's an interesting story by the Daily Mail I have found:

Taking £1 and giving 70p back: How the fruit machine is ripping off Britain | Mail Online

It includes a brief interview with the head of JPM.

Not a bad article for The Mail, but a couple of points need highlighting.

With relevance to gambling law in the UK

Play roulette on a FOBT cat B2 at highest stake and you will lose on average £2.80 per event (25 secs)

Play UK AWP cat B3 on highest stake, assuming standard 90% payout and you'll lose on average £0.10 per event (4 secs[*])

About five times more damaging financially than the fastest lo-tech random machines of today, it's not hard to see why it's the FOBT that should be vilified as the clever thief, not the humble £5 DOND sitting in the corner of a quiet arcade.

Also I'll check the date of article, but JPM (UK market) are a bit like shingles aren't they? Lying dormant for the time being, with a possible resurgence on the cards. I'm not even sure they're currently deisgning for Europe/Wordwide markets are they?

[*] More variable by % than the 25 seconds quoted for FOBT. Some CMS games offer spin times of 2 seconds, whilst some s16s offer spin times of just over 5 seconds. Then of course you have your features which crop up time to time and illustration of wins, so the 4 seconds per event is really going hammer and tongs. Roulette just coughs up winnings, hit repeat bet and go.
@_!!

I'm curious - why have they chosen a spanish machine as JPM's "latest fruit machine" in an article about the UK market?

They also fail to grasp the difference between a random slot machine, and a compensated AWP.

A bit of a shite article really.

Nullified even more when you consider that AWP payout trays are plast, not metal, and many casino slots payout in tickets!

REELS

If a machine hasn't paid out for a while, don't fool yourself that it's just about to. Symbols are created by a random number generator, so every time you play the machine, the odds of winning remain exactly the same.

The Daily Mail must surely be speaking thru their beard yes no? Does this mean that our dearly beloved fruities are gonna be nowt more than glorified roulette machines? Cos we all know what basturt shitcunz they are.

This quote made me laugh so much I nearly tore my o-ring:

"By law, a machine must be capable of paying a jackpot on every spin."

In a pig's arse!!!!

That article is so badly researched it's untrue. I'd be embarrassed to print my name anywhere near it. Typical Daily Mail pish.

It's a myth that the slot machine will tighten up after it has hit the jackpot,

Then why do all fruit machines I play go super cold after jackpot? DM's been smokin dat piff.

Because you play compensated fruit machines, that quote is about a random machine.

Totally agree. Typical Daily Mail article; if it isn't printed in Tory Blue or have scum Labour voters in the title then they try grab a headline in a less subtle inaccurate manner.... :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

In the UK, manufacturers claim most machines are set at 95 per cent but many pay out less - as low as 70 per cent in certain pubs and at motorway service stations, where the odds are worst of all; the transient clientele will not be around long enough to realise what an ungenerous fellow their fruit machine is.

Made me laugh that. The Birch services on the M60 near Manchester burnt down a couple of years ago due to a "transient" player shelling £200 in an MPU5 and then setting fire to it. If you don't believe me, link below....

Answer is, never read the Daily Mail. Or any UK newspaper. Every one of them full of opinionated bollocks (a bit like this post.....lol)

Take me to your leader....
