Ok, All you need to do is go to www.mameworld.net/emuloader/downloads.htm

And download these two .exe files...

Emu Loader v4.4.2 MAMu_ Special Edition Binary - 1,90 MB
Emu Loader v4.4.2 Source - 262 KB

Then you need to go to www.aspx19.dsl.pipex.com

To download the source code and ROM's....

MAGE DEVELOPMENT

Mage v0.7902 (Build 26th Feb 2004)

Mage v0.7902 (Build 26th Feb 2004) Source

Then put the roms in the ROM folder (You will need to make a folder)
And finaly, you should have something like this...........

Having no luck at all with that EMU at the mo.

Basically go into a DOS console [Win2k & Xp users go to START, RUN and then type 'cmd', for Win ME/98 and below use 'command' and those in DOS do nothing :)]

From what I can tell you have to keep the MAGE files in the same folder as the ROM you want to open.

Run MAGE 1 [typed like that], and it should list the currenntly compatible games, and their name in the MAGE emu [they are restricted to the 8.3 file format, i.e only 8 character long names]

Type MAGE [name of game] and press return....
.....and then I get an error saying files not found, even though they are all same, so I guess I am in the same boat as the rest of you :)

before I could get it to work... I had to do this.

In command prompt type

mage -cc

this creates the configuration files that the programme seems to need to function correctly.

Before I did this I was getting the same errors as above.

Hope this helps.

No, still not working! Dose anyone have a screen shot of it working?

Thanks.

P.S.

Is there a step-by-step "getting it to work" guide anywhere?

sorry I forgot, this is what else I had to do to get it working

Within the mage directory just create a folder called "roms"
without the "s

Just like in MAME you then place the unzipped roms into the roms folder keeping the rom names the same as when downloaded.

This should work now.

I am totally baffled too. I am not the best of people with computers, I only brought one mainly for FME.

Will someone do a step-by-step guide of how to run MAGE, starting from actually downloading it, installing it, and running the games with it. Just like we have for FME novices.

We aren't all PC wizards. Especially me!! :o  :o :!:

First unzip the mage intoa folder of your choice , create a folder within it called roms , place the 11 supported rom files in to the roms folder ,

from a msdos window cd to the mage directory , to run type mage -list to see the name of the roms its looking for

ie to run pontoon type mage pontoon at the dos prompt

hope this helps

and remember the tab key this will bring up the setting for keys once you run a rom

if you have used mame you will have no probs with mage

I've just given up on the whole idea!!

I am totally out of my depth with the bloody thing. I have downloaded the MAGE, unzipped it into a new folder, created a new folder for the 11 roms, named it ROMS and put the roms into it.

I have gone to Run, typed in 'cmd', got the MS-DOS prompt, typed "mage -list, but keep getting "mage is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

So sod it. Until there is a layman's way of how to run it, simply for us "dimwits" who don't know how to use Dos commands, I won't go near it with a barge pole.

Looks promising guys :)

As for running it, just drag the romzip onto the mage.exe
