I have just received the above machine having purchased it on e-bay and on plugging it in it does not work.
On opening the lower flap of the machine I have found a circuit board/card that I assume has come off in transit.
it has a long slot on it with loads of pins inside and has 4 oblong blocks attatched to one side of it, 1 reading Club Viva Mexico sound 1, another reading sound 2 and the other 2 just have numbers written on them in ink.
When you look inside the machine and up, there appears to be what looks like a motherboard that has 2 slots that look like they will recieve this item although I am not sure if this is where it should go and if so what slot it should plug in to.
Any help greatly appreciated and thanks for your time.

Hi,
Its sounds very much like you have a scorpion 4 machine that has the game card fallen out. With the power off just put the card back in i normally use the left slot but either is fine as there parallel connected i believe.

Thanks for that.
Board now in slot that say's game card.
Motherboard lights up with 4 green LEDS permanently on but machine is not doing anything.
We have a red flashing LED with the word reset next to it along with a red button below that you can push but which doesn't stay in.
To the left of this there is a green button and between both of these we have a row of jumpers.
Help please.
Oh by the way the power box at the lowest level of the machine is on.
Many thanks
Pete

double check when you have fitted the gamecard that you haven't bent any pins as this is very easy to do.
this would cause the machine to sit with the red light on.

If the red Reset LED is flashing then machine is sat in constant reset. Check the game card first for bent pins, if they are ok try putting it in the other slot. If that achieves nothing check the fuses on the power supply as PSU can cause resets.
If that fails it may need a new mainboard.
Also get pictures of the board, psu and card, as clear and hi res as possible.

The PSU which sits at the bottom of the machine has 1 fuse holder at the front which I have checked and is OK, but are there others based on the fact that you refer to "fuses"
Perhaps a silly question, but as main power light on the PSU is on, does that not indicate that the fuses are OK?
Would the next stage be to try a new gamecard or obtain a replacement Scorpion 4?
Thanks for your suggestions so far.

Flashing red generally means PSU knackered, but can be MPU
I think i would look at the PSU first.

Thanks for the reply.
So how do I check the PSU?
I thought it was OK in that it lights up when power is on but obviously not.

OK, took the PSU out and removed the cover and there are no more fuses inside it, so the one on the front is the only one and that appears to be OK.
Replaced the unit and upon switching on just get an initial click sound from the PSU and my flashing red light on the Scorpion 4 board.
Now the chap that I bought it from maintains that he fired it up before sending it to me and all was OK.
You could say "well he would say that wouldn't he" but at this stage I am not convinced that he is lying, although having told me that he did not remove the gamecard before despatch, how did it end up where I found it upon receipt of the machine, along with the coin selector box, as I am sure that if it had fell out along with the coin selector box in transit it could not have come to rest where it was!
Maybe I should just stick to my dart board and bar billiards table and pop down the local arcade when I fancy a go on the machines!
As always any further help/ideas greatly appreciated.

It is possible that the PSU did work for a bit, but under load it might be not suppling the current the MPU wants ( and would throw it into continued resets ) without checking all the Voltages on the PSU output etc its not easy to check.
I guess another thing to try is JUST in case the bloke who sold you it fiddled around is make sure the ROMs are in the game card correctly, although if they are they would be more than likely buggered now anyway.
Roms have a "nick" in them on one end that needs to be the same side as the holder.
Without digging deeper its hard to illiminate which bit is failing without being at the machine.
Your realistic options are to either borrow a known working PSU /MPU and try swapping them or if someone has a Scorp 4 machine to test your PSU or MPU in it.
Sorry i cant really think of anything else to help.

Hi,
Do we have any engineers or similar clued up members on the forum from the Folkestone area of Kent that I could possibly pay to investigate and hopefully sort the problem out for me?

Ive known this happen on Bell Fruit base games before..
But its only usually a temporary thing - Have u really checked the programe card (the thing that had fell out of the motherboard) thouroughly?
For any visible damage - especially to those e-proms (that say sound etc on)
I have known a programe card burn out ...
But honestly never had any PSU issues that caused this.
Ive had crazy fruits/money to burn/ all those kinda games
Dunno if that will help?
