Hi hope some one can help me. This problem just started today when ever i now open any MFME version i get a pop up stating
"DirectSound Initialisation failed"

I click ok then when i try to load a machine I get another error box stating

"Access Violation at address 0044F6D0 in module 'MFME-1A.EXE' write of address 00000658"

Any help please by the way the emulator was working this morning.

Hi marion you could try updating and over-writing your DirectX with the latest version from here.

Download DirectX 9.0c (full package) - the latest version of Direct X

Not sure what type of soundcard you have..if its a Realtek AC'97 that causes problems untill the very latest drivers are installed.
