I really want to upgrade from my payg phone to a pay monthly contract but i have bad credit history from my student days... Does anyknow whch companies can provide a contract to people with bad credit?

I think you'll find that most bad credit companies supply Sim only, that way they can cut you off and not lose a supplied phone.
Saying that, PAYG is getting so much cheaper of late....and may even be just as cheap.
Watch-out for third party sellers....what appears cheap at first will cost you dear I promise!

Ive been some research on google and you're right, it seems sim card only contracts are easier to be accepted for. Apparently if you apply for a cheap handset on a cheap line rental, this is also easier to be approved for - is this true? Found it at this site. I would prefer to have a handset rather than sim only to be honest.

I work in a mobile phone shop, O2 is quite hard to get a contract. It does not matter what you choose if you cant have a contract you cant have a contract, regardless of the cost. Phones4u give a phone to anyone, but they are a shit company who will do you over. Also if you dont want to be tied in try a 30 day rolling contract, that you can cancel at any time.
