Having not been updated since 2003 we (the staff) have put together some new rules for the site/forum.

1..We encourage debating and discussion, however we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts.

2..Before creating a new thread, please be sure to use our “search feature” to ensure that this subject has not been brought up already. In a lot of cases your question may have already been asked and answered to death.

3..Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private message system to spam other members.

4..There are no set rules against the use of swearing in the forums, but users should only really apply it where appropriate. Inserting swear words in every post doesn't make a user look "tough" or "clever". In fact to most people, it comes across as a literacy deficiency. Posters who frequently use excessive levels of profanity may be cautioned to tone it down. In no way, will the usage of racial, religious, ethnical or sexual discrimination be allowed on our forums. This may lead to definite banning.

5..The posting of adult links, banners, or any other material that promotes pornographic material is prohibited.

6..Respect our staff , Any abuse towards our Admins or moderators may result in a banned account immediately.

7..Moderators/Admins reserve the right to close or delete threads or posts that aren't relevant to the topic being discussed.

8..Shouts may be edited or removed by a Moderator at their discretion (or taken into consideration from a complaint from another member) and the poster sent a PM or email why, they will also be warned that they could receive a ban from posting future 'shouts' should it continue.

NB. These rules are not designed to dictate what members post as it is nice to see some good varied posts but are only made to keep the site a safe, happy and friendly place as it always has been and always will be.

Any questions feel free to PM myself or another member of staff..although i think everything is quite self-explanatory.
Mmmmmm...Sandy ive 'ad her ye know. :)

Yes Lincs it was discussed,

There are far too many threads 'away' from FME (thats fine within 'any topic' but its just getting silly even there at times), also there is a vast amount of insults between members within them.

As is clearly stated...........

...........surely a good thing?

All members are welcome to add feedback....the only time they seem to though is when theres a topic that they can bite on......here is a prime example!

You understand Toodles - even with that north of the border accent;)

Thank you for clarifying the rules - I think the mods and admins of the site do a terrific job, sometimes under very trying circumstances. Iam also very pleased about the gratuitous swearing guidance - even I am offended by the shocking amount of **** mentioned on another forum related (albeit loosely) to fruitie emulation.

Cheers guys

I'd like to think that extends to the use of money / electronics referral links in forum signatures as well :)

Nothing wrong with Mybrute, as none of us gain financially from it, and it's a laugh, but as mentioned before in another thread, people trying to gain money / games consoles e.t.c from other members should be discouraged. It tends to result in spamming (more posts = more views of the referal link), and I find it a dishonest way of 'earning'.

As for the other rules, can't fault them really.

In that case, don't feel forced to visit. I (and several others) use the site you are referring to as a place to have off topic banter, with the occasional bit of FME (although it's more frequently actual machine playing). Fruit-Emu is an all-encompassing site when it comes to FME, the Mecca leans towards the older (much, much older!) stuff, and the other site is there for people who want to discuss pretty much anything in the company of adults.

Sorry Ben but most adults I know object to **** being used so freely, so I don't particularly feel your implication that I am not an adult because I object to the word stands up to close scrutiny; each to their own though. Don't want to fall out about it, just glad doesn't happen here.

Hey, I don't want an argument about it, just a bit surprised it was brought up in a thread for the rules of *this* site.

It does occasionally flare up here, but hopefully the new rules will put an end to it, as long as they are enforced.

Only issue is... how do you define when swearing is justified? I mean plenty of us swear vocally for different reasons (such as the current 'Get the f**k in there!' - which I personally HATE), where is the line drawn?

As we all know it can't be defind as such. for a joke you quoted Jim on the Kaspersky thread and I did smile as I love the humour, with you there.

Its common sense, there are those that just have to go the extra mile at time...we all know it....

A polite PM should do the trick and as you know Ben when you was here, we get reported posts so often about it.....hopefully now its stated there will be fewer throwing their toys out when they are asked to calm down a little when needed.

... *yawn*.

Look at some of the threads you've posted links to, and you'll see people agree with me. In fact I've only clicked on say 6 of the ones above, but I can't see anyone who doesn't agree with me, or anything I've posted which is inflammatory.

Come back when you can formulate a decent argument.

P.S. You've probably forgotten, but I actually *did* tell you to your face what I thought of referral links, as did other - more respected - members of the community, yet you decided to go against sensible judgement and cash in anyway.

Is this not breaking one of your own rules? (Problem is so I have seen over the years whenever rules are put down they are pushed to see what happens. Or like in this case to gain a reaction. Very difficult to police rules on FME websites. Folks have been dodging them for years, the odd PM here and the odd PM there usually does the trick....)

Spose Geddy..although its hard not to 'lose it' when prats like that post unnecessary and unfounded comments like that.

The rule changes were brought in to state clear and concise guidelines to all users..and not to say "look these new rules are in place..i can start throwing my weight about."

Testing the water or not..jamesb1999 is still a prat and will be banned should he continue with his smart arse remarks.
