Was at the shows the other day and decided to go to the amusements (basic shows amusements) whilst some friends went on a rides (all 5 pound machines) went up about 20 pound on a selection of different machines so the woman attendant started following me around as I was the only person in the place. So I decided to try my luck on the Simpsons and I got Moe’s tavern first pound and got mega hold for 5 pound now I knew the woman was hiding behind a machine watching me and when I went to collect it came up IOU 5 pound.

Lady: Here is the money (hands me 1 pound)
ME: What is this I won 5 pound.
Lady: Yeah but this happened earlier and I gave 4 pound out
Me: Puzzled but I just won 5 pound and haven’t had anything
Lady: I JUST TOLD YOU I GAVE 4 POUND OUT EARLIER NOW GET OUT AND DON’T COME BACK
Me: What? I got Moe’s Tavern and took mega hold for red bars (fiver)
Lady: Im not telling you this again!
Me: So what did you do last time after you gave the money out? Did you switch it off?
Lady: Yes … so?
Me: Do it now and see what happens!
Lady: Turns it on and off … walks away and comes back with another 4 pound in 20p.
Me: (storming out) Maybe you should f*****g learn about machines before running a place like this you thick ****.

Do you think she was actually stupid or trying to con me out of my money (only 4 pound but its still annoying)

These "arcades" are a real no-no for me. Almost always the machines have no cash in them / are broken and, frankly, the owners don't care and just try to fob you off.

Was she trying to rip you off, yeah, almost certainly. Consider that one bridge well burnt and don't bother going back...

Never play fruit machines at fairgrounds, etc. The gippos have rigged all of the machines.

It amazes me that you were actually making a profit. No wonder she was following you around!!!!

Yes had this before at the fair,robbing barstewards they are,it came to punches last time!

I've had similar problems with well established amusement arcades notably Oasis amusement arcades in belfast, the list of problems is endless and its a main street arcarde with more than 4 premises, they really dont have an excuse though.
I'll name their most infamous problem, they had several machines and £70k in cash confiscated due to low percentage payouts* on all their £500jp machines and video roulette, this is probably nothing to do with this thread but fact is the main street arcades are usually the bigger bandits.

I've had £75 profit out of an unchipped machine on a Fairground that wasn't full when I started. Floats and refunds are all dependent on operator. However very common is the sly tricks. Chucking a few wrong denominations into the £1 hopper for example. You win £5 and it's £2.15 when two pounds and three five pences float out. It's little problems like that you'd expect to come up against. Bulbs blown, hoppers not paying out properly, coins not being credited on insertion and dropping to no mans land. It all adds up.
Anyone ever had their head blown off with a shotgun for emptying machines at a fairground? If so, post now.

Just a tip on moe's tavern i thought every 1 knew this but here it is, take cash repeater ( 2 3 1 ) & go for £4 it can repeat up 2 £12, if u don't get £4 in the 1st 4 spins take the £5!!
