Ok time has come to get FMEF 1.4.4 out there.
*The release will happen either tonight or tomorrow night, as soon as it is ready.*
A few upgrades and changes, most notably a move towards MFME style layouts.
The options for dimmed lamping etc will be left in but a "Classic" mode will be available. You will be able to use it on certain lamps but keep it simple for the bulk of them.
I.E. in luxor you could lamp the corners with the specialist lamping but do the rest the normal way. Keeping the best of both worlds.
I am having real problems with AntiAliasing so I would suggest using the scroll functions to view layouts rather than scaling the layouts as scaling makes it look horrible at the moment.
Those of You using ATi graphics cards can make it work by enabling "Adaptive Antialiasing" in the Catalyst Control Centre. That smooths them off very nicely.
I will have to finish off the Documentation at another time but I want this out there so you can start playing with it and seeing how it works.
It is fairly intuitive to use.
Its not the final final release so expect the odd bug here and there but this is now definatly improved.
I will include a guide for getting it running in Vista and Vista64.
What this edition includes....
BWB support, Lamp Extenders, Massive speed improvements, Percentage Key, JP Key, POP Key, Auto Speed, MFME semi-Import, Heads Up Display, Scrolling layouts, & Reel Editor.

Great to see it is starting to go the way of MFME. That should mean a fair few layouts now being done for it. The main reason BFMulator suffered was because of the difficulties people had making layouts for it.
How will the BWB games work, mate? Is it now just a simple case of checking a box, or does there need to be some hacks put in place?
Either way, the progress you've made sounds fantastic! Well done on all your efforts.

Great Guitar, does that means we can load a few BWB roms in for a play about, even some that don't run in MFME (also a guide on classics for FMEF would be nice)?
Interested in the MFME semi-import to see how that works, similar to the JPM - MFME convert?
Anyway how can I get a copy, MSN as before or will you be uploading?
Thanks Guitar, excellent work!!!

In a word, no.
I have tried and tried to get it to boot but to no avail. Once I get this coding out of the way I might pop the debugger back in and have another crack at it.
However, Voodoo Express, Volcano, Heaven and Hell, Fire and Ice, and the other 45 clones on the same theme should run.
I will keep trying with blues brothers, we'll see.

I need to find two numbers for each layout, other than that its a case of ticking a box.

yeah, um classics is something I have to work on a bit, I'll explain all later. The import will be explained later, but its only a very basic import, suffice to say you cant just pop a dat in and get the info out. I will be uploading to forums when its ready. Hopefully Monday night but as I got called out tonight that may change.
However by the end of the week is a definate.

Unfortunately not, you'd be better off asking the AGEMAME team as they already have most of the framework to do it. Just needs the CHR loooking at, although I'm sure I can help with that if needs be.

Thats great to hear and the autoscroll and auto speed nice! i cant wait, will it play 10.1 or 3.2 layouts just wondering
It will NOT play any MFME layouts. There will be a way to import MFME layouts in but its not as easy as you think. By the same token it aint that hard either.
Also the games it will play depend on the Tech (MPU4) rather than the version number.
