yep it was a varta battery horrible things well tried bridging the tracks still no joy looks like the battery really went a good one and took something else cos its all black on the wiring too cant see any breaks thou
Can you get some hi res photo's of the board? Also grab yourself a bottle of cheap vinegar next time you are shopping.
You'll need to strip off all the parts that the battery acid (which is actually an alkali, hence the vinegar for neutralisation) has touched. Strip the tracks down with some light sand / emery paper or a fibreglass pencil.
Vinegar everything which looks to have been touched by the battery. Apply vinegar to the board, rub around with an old brush and let it stand for say 15 - 20 mins.
Then give the whole board a good wash with soapy water, rinse with water to get the excess from under any IC's and leave to stand in the sun, or airing cupboard, or dry with a hair dryer until it is completely dry.
Tin the tracks with solder even if they dont look too bad. Also rewire any tracks that lead through the board linking the back with the front. Replace anything with green legs, especially IC's and Transistors (remove these before you vinegar, it'll help get at damaged tracks under IC's.
Also, if you can, send the ROMs to someone to be dumped, just in case you need them in future, you dont find one of those machines every day. And of course it means we can try and emulate it too
.
Its not a quick process, and I can speak from experience when I say, be patient, it works a lot better that way.
