Hi Today i purchased a barcrest Boulder Dash Machine.

its the first machine i have purchased and i am keen to learn about them.

i got the machine. a manual. a hopper collection sheet. a 1998 upgrade sheet?

a key for the bottom of the unit,
a key for the top left part of the unit to open it up. and one key for the inside of the unit to get to the cash boxes.

i do not have a key for the top right barrel.

after a bit of playing with it. and looking t the manual. i can play it, and get the 50 credits from the test. but it does not pay out. i attempted to do some of the cash tests and it Allarms and says there is an obstruction. contacted the seller, and they have said it was disconnected and to look online for some help.

looking at the machine a bit closer and reading the manual. there are no wires going the the refill key barrel.

can anyone help me :(

many Thanks.

To be completely honest, it is up to the seller to help you with this fault. I assume you bought the machine with a clause like 'PAYOUT DISCONNECTED TO COMPLY WITH RULES' or 'FREE PLAY ONLY'?

If not, you've been sold a faulty machine (or at least, mis-sold the machine). If it has been sold as having it's payout disconnected, there is no reason for the seller NOT to tell you how to reconnect it.

It's not a difficult job to reconnect it, but as I've not used MPU4 for ages I don't know if the plug from the hopper to the mainboard can be inserted back to front - if it can, make sure that you insert it the correct way - and if you don't know, ask.

A common problem is where people sell machines as having the payouts disconnected, and it later turns out that they were not only not connected, they were also faulty and were only disconnected as a way of covering the fault up. Even if the hopper does turn out to be faulty, it's not that expensive a repair.

I'd still say to pursue the seller first though. I'd hope he's just connected the hopper plug from the mainboard but it's possible he's done something different.
