As a punter, I feel your pain!

It's usually an odds-on shot that lets you down!

The other day I saw a winning footy slip on the counter at William Hill and it must have had 20 odd winning selections on there...I couldn't believe it...not sure what the stake was but the winning bloke was picking up about £1200-£1500. I couldn't quite earwig the exact amount. Typical Hills, they couldn't pay him and sent him to another shop!

If Liverpool were the final team on your coupon, and only team playing last night, then you could've covered your bet by backing the draw and an Aston Villa win to guarantee yourself a profit.

Eg.

Liverpool 2/5 - a win here gets you your £524 for £2 stake.
Draw 7/2 - £100 bet gets you £450 returned (incl. stake).
Villa 7/1 - £50 bets gets you £400 returned (incl. stake).

So your total outlay would be £100 + £50 + £2 = £152, with your minimum return being £400.

It's a crude example, but arbitrage opportunities like this are how some pro punters make their money.
