sorry this is only a short and prety easy to answer if you know it.. just wondered what roms you use for bar-x. thank you and keep on fruitin!!

You need the 'Select' roms.

Seeing as I'm in a good mood and just had my tea, here they are. Just for you.

PS:- Remember this is a 'Pseudo DX'

that means it's not the real 'Bar-X' but rather Bar X artwork with 'select' roms. Bar X hasn't been emulated so this is how we play Bar-X until the real deal becomes emulated.

Why aint it been emulated yet? Artwork would be easy to find as bar-x is everywhere so anyone can just take photos, theres 3 in my local arcade alone, and if the roms aint available why not just hack the select sound files and replace the sounds with bar-x sounds, would make it feel more like bar-x.

Bar X? Thats an Electrocoin machine isn't it?

I would assume that the technology isn't emulated yet - and don't remember hearing anything reference it being emulated either

I'm not aware of any attempt to substitute sound roms into another rom yet. As the 2 machines are different techs, they probably use different sound hardware and as such I can't see it as being possible at the mo.

its so weird isnt it how a machine so basic with about 5 lamps and a win or you dont program cant be emulated!!

Be cool if eventually it does happen,

Or if not, even if just the sounds are changed from the select ones. Coz its quite amusing getting cowboy music every time you get nudges! Id rather here the explosion and the annoying whiney "niowwwwww niowwwwwwww niowwwwwwww niowwwwwwwww" noise!!

Sorry to be a bit thick but I'm desperate to get hold of a BAR X rom for MFME and can't find one anywhere. I've looked at Compost corner but can't find it there - am I missing somefink?

I think you may have misunderstood the posts above. The only Bar X we have available at the moment is not a real bar x. Bar x uses a technology that is not emulated currently

What you want is a machine called "Select" it runs in MFME and can be found in the download section on this site.

Alternatively, add me to msn and ill send you the layout and roms

i'm very new to the scene but have been playing bandits for years. I think I got it. Use the ROM but put the Bar x layout (purely for cosmetic reasons) in the same folder - is that right?

I'm not on messenger but if I can't get it figured out I'll sort it out and contact you.

you unzip them both into the same folder and it should work
