Isn't that the thing with illusionists. Every now and then they have to get one wrong to make it more believable. I think Paul Daniels once said that..

if he could really show us how to win the lottery or cheat at roulette wouldnt we all be doing it

Not necessarily true. The speed of wheel / ball ratio is important in determining where a roulette ball will land. It's maths, not magic. In the US, u can buy small, hidden computers to do exactly what derren was doing. Get caught with them in a casino, however, and you're in deep shit.

Haven't seen the programme, but is it possible he may have been using one of these computers?

Ive enjoyed watching Derren Browns programmes for a few years now. I think he is a good entertainer and doesnt really claim to be anything he isnt (which cant be said for alot of other illusionists out there).

One thing i will say is that his most recent series that has been playing is by far his worst in my opinion. I didnt really find them entertaining at all and this is the first time out of all his shows ive felt that way.

His earlier shows are very impressive and worth a watch in my opinion, even if you didnt enjoy the recent episodes. You might be suprised by the older stuff.

If you follow that link above and then click on the "all episodes" tab lower down the page there is a large selection of his older programmes to watch online if anyone is interested.

i think hes great. like many people have said in there replies. he always say that he never claims to more then what he is. its all trick of the mind. i watched one of his showes the other day where he told someone to choose a desternation in the london a-z map thing he then either told them the place from the number of the grid he was told or vise versa. after which he admits that it wasnt magic or pysic abllity. all he did was learn the book page to page. (which i think is amazing within its self) but like everyone you all have your own opinion and i repects everybodys thoughts. mine is he is great and i love watching all of his shows.
