I can't believe them 'f***ers' over at FF are still $&%#ing off to who has the best PC bits. ;)

It does seem to be THE place to discuss anything non-fruity related.Theres a great discussion about cotton socks going on atm.

I only answered the question asked.

Gawd that is farther back than EPEE, can't believe you are still fired up on that. ;)

(Actually DID they give him a CandD or is that just rumour?)

nah not fired up, just correcting something I thought was wrong in the thread (the whole he didn't want it in the public domain) (Mr Pedantic me ;) )

AFAIK they did, I think he said so himself...

You are 100% correct the initial MFME or Fruit.exe was for sale. I know CW's reason for 'getting out' at the time was heat from Barcrest but I'm not sure if it happened or was a threat.

However he has released since and no doubt has a rather spangley version on his PC now playing all sorts of techs etc etc etc.....

the program seemed to be 16-bit based, however, seemed to be dependant on a specific older setup i.e. my quad core didnt help.

work has started on a windows version now

Thanks for that barcrestjunky. A guestion i have always thought about is this....... Do you think that the emulator leak has changed the way the manufacturers made there machines? I mean did they look at it and say rite this has happened and we need to do this so that we can protect ourselves in the future. So because of the leak they have spent more time and effort in security or do you think they would have gone this way anyways? It might be a stupid question i know but have alkways been curious.

Have again, after just over three years, read that thread and the 14 pages of posts that followed it.

In it was all the doom and gloom that FME was going to come to an end ... three years later, we are still here, still gathering resources and roms and still making layouts, not only for MPU5 and S4, but also the older techs as well.

Also mentioned was that MPU5 would probably never be cracked ... how many MPU5 layouts have been released in the last three years since the leaks?

The leak of the emulator must have been a gut-blow for Wizard, the creator of FME and the scene as an whole, but it happened. Although Wizard has never publically released an update to any of the emulators, probably over a hundred or more layouts have been created since then, we have worked around the difficulties and managed to keep FME going.

This inner circle that we keep hearing and reading of - what about it? Yes, they do perhaps have newer (or older techs) to play, with layouts and resources for them to create them, but eventually, they do fall out with each other, and then we get the 'public leak' and we have them anyway - and we have proved that we are resilient in working our way through the difficulties of cracking them - we have proved this - as we are still here three years later after the major leak of the emulator.

So Chris (Wizard) if you do read this thread, your scene is still here, your emulators are still used to create layouts, we are still gathering rescources for ALL techs, and the vast majority of the members of the FME scene do respect what you have done for us all. After three years, your scene and creations are still here, it would be nice if you could acknowledge that we have worked hard without no updates to still keep the scene going and it would be marvellous if you would tell us that there might, eventually, be an update in the offing for us all to look forward to. :)

Your past work and brilliance has given many of us, especially myself, many years of pleasure on my computer. :)

Doom and gloom for some and not for others.

How many? 403  The problem with 'it would never be cracked' was who said it. He wanted to control everything to try to scare people off.

991 MFME layouts since the leak hehe. ;) Yeah no doubt he was gutted but maybe choosing who he trusted more might have helped a bit. I dunno however there is always two sides and motives etc.

No I doubt it this time. I think Wizzy has learned who to trust and who not too. I think we can be sure Mr House has newer stuff but denies/deflects it. Retrofruit was a late MFME tester in public days and he has gone. Pete_W always denies any newer editions. Our resident sim producer here was always very close to Wizzy and did all the initial layouts however he does the deflecting/denying routine with 'new' MFMEs. So I doubt we will never know. Some will say we have no right to know etc etc etc.

We won't ever see another MFME release. I'm fairly certain of that. Every now and again we are given glimpses of hope (EPOCH post) but alas we, I think have to be resigned to the fact no more MFME for us. A shame a very very small group have spoiled it and that Wizzy cannot 'come to some arrangement' but the facts are 'no more.'

Your past work and brilliance has given many of us, especially myself, many years of pleasure on my computer. :)

Agreed.
