I have a Monster Cash and Lumina Note Acceptor.
It is giving me a red cross symbol constantly.
I have tried switching the DIL switch No 6 to on, then turning off and putting into test 1.5 but it gives the "No response" to the acceptor.
I have got the Lumina labelled connector plugged into port 3 (cctalk interface) on the acceptor and have nothing else plugged into it.
It then asks me for a code I have tried a few numbers but I just get the "No reponse" error.
Is there something I am not doing?
Cheers,
Matt

The code should be written on the top of the note accepter, some have random codes and others run the standard 123456.
Give this a try and if you still get no joy i will tell you how to reset the nasty little thing.

Well I am now a little closer!
I input the code (on the top of note acceptor) and it said "Key Valid", yet it still refuses to work and the red "x" still shows.
Could you give me a step by step guide on what I need to do....I feel sure the acceptor would work if I knew what to do!!
Thanks,
Matt

Make sure the hopper is topped up. Don't think it will accept if float falls below about £100.

Can anyone validate this?
Thanks,

Its correct. You will need to have MORE than £124 in the hopper for the note acceptor to start working. If there are less coins than that in there, then you can bodge it, and press the hopper top up button. This will make the machine think that the hopper is full, and send the required "work" signal to the acceptor.
Try it for yourself, and see :-)

As above, turn refill key and hopper top up switch.
Shut machine and test, if this fails then your need to reset the NA.

glad your sorted.. sorry was just having a nose as i want one, probably not a good idea.. i dont have the knowledge to fit one, either that or ill lose me rag.
i thought if its below £50 it wont accept any more notes? i guess each machine differs depending on your hopper size!
Spin.

As with anything, you generally learn by giving it a go.
I would suggest find out which note acceptors fit your machine, buy one, and give fitting it a go. If you come unstuck, there are plenty of very helpful people on here, Roderz, Bazpeeb to name a few :-)
I'll even give you a hand if its something I can help with!

Thanks for letting us know buddy, nice to see a happy customer,
Oh dear. My note acceptor has had a relapse.
I turned the machine on and the red "X" was on the acceptor again.
Only this time when I go into the test1.5 it says that the key code is valid, yet it won't work.
What could be wrong?

Does it still work in 'note test' if so then it must be hopper level related.
Turn the refill key and look to see what the machine thinks it has in the hopper,
as stated before it needs to be topped-up

Was it a flashing X or a solid X?

It was a flashing X
I just did the hopper top up again and it is working again.
I have a feeling after I turn it off for the night it won't be working again!
Will I just need a new battery or do you think it is something else? What I don't like about the battery theory is it remembered the code, but yet seemed to forget the hopper top up switch had been pressed last night.

Battery holds info on the volume, hopper level and ofc bnv code so unless the machine alarmed on you when you switched it on i doubt its batt related.
Did you see what the hopper level was before you re-topped, if not next time this happens check that before you do anything, then we can build up some ideas.
