2012... The Mayan calendar.... I'm pretty sure these guys never once said the world was going to end. Isn't it just the end of their calendar cycle, then it restarts? Its a big avent atrology wise I believe.

That means you think im a 'saddo' as well then..i dont believe its gonna happen for a second..just makes for an interesting read.

There was a program on Discovery channel last night as well about how things 'could' happen..the magnetic poles switching..a near encounter with another 'planet' that pulls the earth out of it gravitational field.

Yes purely 'hypothetical' but interesting all the same.

I wouldnt have watched it lol.......Because I believe it IS fun to believe, which is why I have superstitions, ghosts exist etc, even if it's not true, it's still good to believe. But I know I would not like to believe what might be the case here...and I would probably get carried away with it all!
Sure the Earth's polarity does change anyway though from time to time....Looking at the mid atlantic ridge, the different rock that comes out of there over millions of years etc does alternate. So surely if we are encountering polarity switches now, it wouldnt mean any harm if it happens again?

Its a great way to peddle fear. Most of the sites that have info on this event are people who believe crop circles are the work of aliens. Surely if this was the case there would be some real solid evidence, same with UFO's. Apperently we are getting a DNA upgrade. Looking forward to that then.

yeah it's nice to believe in ghosts because they aren't neccassarily #@#@#@#s but if your gunnna believe in some supersticious stuff then i think the world ending in 3 years is a pretty depressing one to choose..

btw forgive me if they don't say that the world will end in 2012 but this is what i've heard off people - mostly stupid knobs.

I got into this a few years back really thinking shit this will definately be it. You have only got to the websites that peddle this info. I don't think I actually found a proper scientific website with actual facts about this event. It was all myth and religion based. The truth of the matter is that nobody really know's what will happen on such a rare - 26,000 year event.

2012 is a massive subject for me, especially the info on from the original maya (not the classic maya that was in mel gibson's apocolypto). The original mayan's were peace loving civilisation and NEVER sacrifised anyone to the sun god. There were very spiritual and believed in multiple layers of consiousness but mysteriously there whole race disapeared! I hate it that the every single article in the paper recently predicts the end of the world.

The TRUE fact is no-one actually's knows what the mayan's said will happen at the end of the long count (dec2012) as the tablet that had the original carvings describing the process when discovered was damaged and never has been Fully translated. but ignoring that fact most people who have studied the old mayan glyph's have hinted towards Human Ascension or a world with total peace and harmony after said date. There is loads more but i'll be here all night.

One cool fact i learn't about human ascension or a dna shift with man kind state's was that time has to move faster gradually upto 2012 and a book i'm reading at the moment say's if you ask anyone about time getting quicker they all say. Yeah this year's flown by???????? could be slightly conspirital but interesting?

if your interested in cool things check out a physics subject called String Theory! now that will blow your mind and it makes the collision with the hadron collider that bit more interesting....

I must admit, I have been trawling through some of the websites this week reading up about it (simply because I saw 2012 at the cinema last weekend I guess).

It's funny that the Mayan long count calendar ends on this date and then suddenly the solar flares, planet Nibiru, etc, stories get attributed to this date as well!

As per some of the other comments, I've read the same stuff, in that the calendar has never been associated with the end of the world. It's simply that it's the end of a specific calendar (admittedly a big one!) and that it will be the start of a new calendar the day after, i.e. like when we went from 1999 to 2000.

I read another comment saying that if Nibiru was really due here in just over 3 years, we'd already be able to see it because it would be in a shorter orbit than Saturn. Also, I read that Niribu is actually Jupiter.

I personally think the hype has nearly got out of control and that the story will become bigger.

Can't see it myself (I really can't!!!), but you never know.

Will Bullseye ever be DX'ed?
Is it possible to workaround on the Feature on Empire (Gorilla climbing the ESB), other than a series of pictures?
Finally, will the roms for Wheel Of Fortune (Project) ever turn up & if so will the disc reel work?

Disc reel workaround is possible ( works to a certain extent in big dipper anyhow)
