Hilarious about Stoke on Trent isn't it - They are calling it smoke on trent because the local government (voted the worst in the country) has forgotten to apply for powers to charge people in breach of the ban (although they are saying they will be able to do it retro-actively), so people are still smoking in the pubs.

Apparently people are travelling from everywhere to have a smoke in Stoke before the government meet to ratify the law on 1st August.. LOL... What an inept local government or do you think that it's partly because they all smoke and did it deliberately

Just read in the paper about a landlady who has a hotel license that tried to put beds in an area of the bar to get round the ban. Her local council has already said it will enforce the ban as it's obvious what a hotel room is and what isn't. Another nice try though.

I see the first landlord is going to court soon for allowing people in his pub to ignore the ban. Imagine if this keeps happening and what sort of an effect it will have on an already stretched legal system. They'll probably just find some way of fast tracking it.
