I may have to take the missus instead.........

Ramble start.
Been watching it from the start and will watch every match (while browsing on the computer). Funny you mention Phil Taylor:
When you are watching Phil Taylor you are watching a genius. I've been following darts from 1980 and when I first saw him play in 1989 / 1990 I knew this was someone special even at that stage. I thought he would win about 7 World Championship but 14 is incredible!
In most sports players tend to reach a peak and slowly die off, but with Taylor he gets better not worse. Enjoy watching him while you can cause I really don't think it's possible to get better than Taylor (even in 20 years or so). He's not getting any younger and is overweight, I recon he's got another 5 to 8 years at the top before he gets ill or slows down (similar to Priestly) just cause he's too old. I predict he will win at least another 3 World Titles.
Saying all that, I still prefer the BDO version on BBC, it's where it all started, has the history for me, and is where every World Champion is from. PDC has never produced someone capable of winning the PDC World Championship and never will, BDO will and will continue to do so until it's finally eaten up by PDC (which won't be long).
Ramble finish.

It's been an average start this year in terms of quality. There have been a few decent performances, but a lot of people went through with sub 90 averages...

Few missed doubles and the averages go down, know what you mean though Magz.
I remember watching a semi-final at the Lakeside between Ted Hankey & Chris Mason in 2000, probably the best match I've ever seen (equal to Taylor & Barney in 2007 final). There were 38 x 180's between the 2 of them, a record held to this day for a televised darts match. If they would have hit the doubles they would have had 110+ averages (both of them). Also remembering that they were playing on a board with slightly, ever so slightly thinner trebles. Point is averages can be misleading sometimes.
Still a good start I think, I can't see Taylor being beat. Only chance to beat him is in round 2, after that the games are longer and they won't have a chance!
