Found out (of baz) that newer red gaming machines are programmed to send the odd pound coin into the cashbox even when the hopper is not full to 'trick' the player into thinking the machine is dropping. Thing is out of every, lets say 10 pound coins that goes in only 4 will go into the hopper and the rest down the back. I put a £50 float in and within two days there was £31 in the cash box and the FL read all the coins added up (about £100). Also when I put the machine in refill mode (which is designed to fill the hopper up when low on cash or empty) the coins will still go into the bottom cash box, so if i need to refill lets say £10 if the machine owes £3 it will take about £15 before one coin goes into the hopper? This is pointless?
Is there anyway I can turn it off.
Also the £1 and £2 coins go into the silver coins box along with the silver?

the coins shouldn't go down to the cashbox on refill mode.
sounds like a dodgy mech if its doing that.

It's true, Red machines have done it since pretty much the start in the early 00's. It would only fool a simpleton though, it's immediately obvious that they drop coins for the first £4 or £5 and then stop. They also drop coins that you are recycling from previous wins. If anything this put me off their machines back in the day.
I think this is more about giving the machine a consistent cashbox profile, rather than the feast or famine profile on other machines. It might also have been an anti-player tactic to make forcing more difficult to judge, and therefore improve the playing experience for the casual player.

if you think about it,why would it be illegal?
you are putting a coin into a fruit machine and you get credit and you play the shots.doesn't matter if it goes into the cashbox or hopper.
you could argue that its fooling you into thinking that the hopper is full and ready to pay but if a landlord has just refilled a machine then that would be fooling you as well.

Yeah he said he got told by the area manager that manually refilling em results in approx 10% more takings.Apart from him running quite low on coins for two weeks,i would imagine there is a fair ammount returned via the collector !

And it still amazes me that people get " fooled " into thinking that just because its full it MUST pay out.
How many years ago was that the case, maybe £4.80 token days!

I have a Red. It has never fake backed in its puff.
If you have a win banked, it will stop backing until the win is 'recycled' even if you don't collect it, but that's just to avoid coins going to the cash box unnecessarilly.
I don't believe they do actually fake back at all.

Nope, alarm volume is set at 50PC no matter what. You can inhbit coin type alarms which I think is on switch bank 1 (game card) it should be in the maunal or on the inside of the machine.lol
