Hi all.
I have recently puchased a Barcrest Squids in fruit machine for my poker room / basement. It is a 25p play machine with a £25 repeat jackpot. It has a Genesis / MPU5 Machine manual with it and I have all the keys. Basically when I host a poker game with my friends this is down there for a bit of fun and for my friends to chuck their odd coins in and maybe win, maybe not. I have read the manual and find it confusing how to actually check to fins out what the payout percentage is. When I open the front ot the machine it has a green 78 % key fitted, is this then the payout percentage? because when i have been playing it with my own money it seems to pay out the jackpot quite alot!! I have about £68 in the hopper in pound coins so dont know if i need to put the full £125 into the hopper like it suggest I do?
Above the % key there are 8 little switches that read Bank 2 Option switches - it looks as though number 5 switch is pushed down???
I would be happy for it to be at 78% pay out, I dont want to rip my mates off, but at the same time I dont want them to clear out my £68 in 5mins!!!
Any help would be greatly received.

the reason its paying out so much at the moment is more than likely because its catching up to put itself at the correct payout % it is (78%), once it hits around that % gaming will be just like normal...
1 way i think you can fix it without playing through it is to take out stake key, power up fruity... there should be an error... now turn it off... put stake key back in and power it on.... if im right in thinking this should reset some of the same thus it will start playing "tight" for a bit until its been set in (remember as many mention payout % is based on £1000 worth of plays so at 78% payout for every £1000 put into it the machine should be paying out at least £780)
regarding the "float" as its sometimes going to be used by your mates i would set the float at £150... basically if theres no note acceptor that means if the hopper has £150 of coins in it then every other £1 put in will go right into the bottom of your machine for you to collect.
the "little switches" sound like dip switches, some dip switches determine payout but you have a stake key so primarily it will read the stake key. If there was no stake key then payout would be determined by the position of these switches... the other switches just determine things like weather it pays out direct to tray after every win etc

Have a word with ploggy about this Bruce. Squids In is one of the first ever MPU5s and has emulation issues. The BWB version was built on MPU4 so it works fine, though I never saw it on £25 jackpot.
Then again, everyone said that Silver Screen (another troubled MPU5) was a non-runner but AT got it running perfectly some time ago.

No probs. Well I would love to see the MPU5 version done - I always preferred it greatly to the MPU4 rehash. I'll see if someone has the ROMs handy - it won't hurt to try. I've done a couple of these old MPU5 before and they are often playable, but a bit frustrating due to Jackpot/Stake/Percent key errors.
